Why is the Warthog doorless?

This has messed with me ever since I started playing Halo back in Halo 3 but why are all almost all of the vehicles in Halo open? They’re military vehicles meant to keep their inhabitants alive and slaying, but why then are they open? I know it’s just as game but it could still be played without open vehicles, like BF3 or something. And just like the wraith and banshee they could be destroyed and jacked but first you just had to rip the door open. I imagine spartan’s are strong enough to do this to normal military equipment. Open makes them more likely to die, and generally you don’t want your soldiers to die…

So it can be high jacked, I guess! It would be harder if one needed the keys to the door, the animations would suck and take too long.

Ain’t nobody got time to open the door if there was one.

You could still jack it, if it had doors the spartan would just have to rip it open and rip the other spartan out. Which in my opinion would look epic as an animation.

From a gameplay perspective, so the drivers are more vulnerable and CAN be shot.

From a canon perspective, it makes no sense.

It’s the classic dilemna of canon vs gameplay.

I guess they wanted the Warthog to resemble a doorless Jeep Wrangler. Thats what i got, lol.

If you want a feature of the warthog to really bake your noodle, why are the fuel containers red if they’re just water?

> I guess they wanted the Warthog to resemble a doorless Jeep Wrangler. Thats what i got, lol.

Never thought of it as that, but now that I do I can see the resemblance. Huh, I thought that the wars of the last fifty years in the real world told them that open vehicle was kind of a bad idea and that’s why we have humvees today.

Ha, I get the gameplay aspect of it, but it just throws any attempt at realism out the door for me.

They’re water containers? I always thought they were spare gas or something, where does it say it’s water?

Yes, it would…changed my mind then.

Because the Warthog runs off a hydrogen fuel cell, therefore it runs off water. Not to mention that since gas is going to be replaced by hydrogen fuel cells it makes sense that in the future they’d just stick to keeping fuel in red containers instead of changing the color just because the fuel type changed.

The armor is above the seats and you step up into it.

The only thing showing is your arms and head, which to be quite frank a windowed door would be equally as dangerous, and a door with a small window could be pierced anyways.

Easy to ditch.

Explosives could still get in and destroy the vehicle though… Killing the passengers inside…
Plus today there is bullet proof glass and in 2500’s I would expect the military to be using a top notch version on their vehicles… And very small windows would also makes sense. Heck no windows if the warthog could work off the same principle as the
Venator or CIO helmets.

Balance is extremely important when it comes to multiplayer. Sadly this game is a mess balance wise.

Speed and Agility.

Armor is just going to slow you down and offer little protection against plasma so it’s best to just take the doors off.

pun intended?

And why no towbar? if it had a towbar you could hook a caravan ( mobile home ) up to it,then park it in the middle of the level. Then all the campers could hang out there, and we could blow them up with rockets, grenades etc. just a thought.

The Warthog is actually the scout vehicle for the UNSC such as the DPV is the the scout vehicle for todays military

Doors? Ain’t nobody got time fo’ dat.
