There are times i shoot spartans point blank with the scatter and all i do is drain their shields and sometimes they die like they are suppose to.
I chalk that up to bad luck
I agree with it being inconsistent for me as well. I don’t use it enough to know for sure, but I’m aware of it’s range so I’m not sitting half away across the map complaining that it’s not working. I’ve always compared using the scattershot to using the gnasher in Gears of War. Sometimes it’s on point and sometimes it just doesn’t do anything for me.
It’s the type of gun where the end of it literally has to touch them when you shoot to get the kill.
The Scattetshot is hit or miss (literally) for me, but the Didact’s Signet, on the other hand, is a completely different story…
I just wish the base level Scattershot had a little more homing capability, then it might be worthy of being a counterpart to the Shotgun.
Yeah I wish the scattershot had a feel more like the shot gun.
The inconsistency is in the user.
Believe me, we have all been there.
I think it just depends on how much shield the other player has. If they are full shield then yes you have to be pretty close. If some of their shield is drained you can get away with being a bit farther away. I think thats why it appears inconsistent cuz at any given time you dont know how much shield the player has (unless they are no shield).
It’s just bad when it wants to be… I don’t like it… but it makes me laugh. lol
I think the main issue with this gun is that it fire individually tracked projectiles that can miss easily so a “hit” could range from insta kill to minimal damage because it wasn’t a full hit.
Also the damage done decreases drastically over range so once shields are down and you’re chasing its hard to tell if they are actually getting hurt at all

wow bro… this the type of stuff that happens to me a lot with the scattershot

You have bad luck… the last guy should of died and your teammate quit

Yep. I never spawn it in WZ since I completed the commendation.
Another stupid thing about this game, and indeed all halos, is highlighted in your video. Why the -Yoink- are there edges to fall off on the maps?
The Scattershot is basically a roulette of a gun.
Serious noob question, do the individual “pellets” from a shotty/scatter get headshot multipliers? It might explain a thing or two.
I also can’t help it. Everytime I get killed by a shotty or scatter I feebly ask myself the question, “Why doesn’t my shotgun do that?”.
It’s best when you bounce the shots on surfaces then they connect to the enemy.
Using the scattershot this is what Ive picked up
- It has damage fallout - Zoom will kill at point blank to a bit farther than normal shotgun range - Unzoomed is only for when you are close enough to shoot and melee right after - The damage falloff is removed if you bounce your shots to get hits off of the homing - To sum it up for the best damage zoom and bounce, learning the angles is key and its a pain in the -Yoink- when it shouldnt be.

I was under the impression the damage was reduced after the ricochet. I saw that in a video.
The real question is why is the loathsome thing the worst weapon in the game? It is a variant that actually does less damage…
