Why is the Reach banshee used in Halo 4?

I’m sorry, but does anyone else think that it is completely ridiculous that the Halo: Reach style banshees are being used in Halo 4. They can be seen in the trailers and I noticed it right away. Chronologically this just entirely lacks logic. I find it very frustrating and it will probably bug me ever time I see it. I really hope that 343 will see this and realize how much sense it doesn’t make. I don’t know how they didn’t notice this in the first place.

I personally liked the Reach Banshee design best, as it makes more sense in terms of aerodynamics.

I think they’re using it mainly because it’s an updated version both graphically and artistically.

Ive actually noticed some edits on it compared to Reach’s, color being the obvious one. And the same goes for the tank. It looks far more similar to Reach’s, but overall if you take a close look, it’s noticibly different.

to be honest the reach banshee did look more advanced than the halo 3 banshee and Im kind of glad that the style has returned.

BTW welcome to waypoint!

Because they actually look like they could be flying unlike the halo 1-3 style?

Hopefully this stays. I always liked how Reach’s Banshee looked over past Halos.

The banshee plays like halo 3 and looks like reach.

The Banshee from Reach is the same as the one in every other Halo game, but they just changed the canonical look. The term for this is a retcon, something which happens often enough.

Looks are maybe similar, but function is fairly different. The Halo 4 banshee flips much slower, and is overall “heavier.” At least that’s how it appears.

It’s an aesthetic thing. Nothing to do with the timeline.

Agreed, and I don’t mind the design. It looks sleeker and sharper, also shiny.

I know it makes more sense aerodynamically, but this: The Covenant have designed an aerdynamic banshee, then change the design, then change it back? WHY?

And thank you ProximateXbox

Yes, that is what I was referring to in general, the damn wings. I prefer the shinyness from reach as well though

Because this:

They never changed their design, Bungie did. For all intents and purposes, the Reach Banshee is the only kind of Banshee that canonically existed.

I really wish that the Banshee was an upgraded, improved version of the Reach Banshee, and not taking a step back and just throwing in the Halo 3 Banshee.

I personally love the Halo 3 banshee the best. The reach one’s design just seems a little too bulky for the complex maneuvering the banshee has to do. I hope they go back to the old design.

I like the Reach banshee but it is weird that 343i have simply copied the model across from Reach to H4, its almost like they couldn’t be bothered to redesign it.

They probibally kept the Reach-like design of the Banchee because it makes more aerodynamic sense the the old design and actually looks like it could fly, unlike the old design

Other than that, they’re still both the T26 “Banchee” Ground Support Aircraft
