Reach and Halo CEA are bad competitive games, they aren’t balanced and employ a bunch of random and unskilled mechanics together in the hope the randomness balances things out.
So we ended up with the most inconsistent Halo game that frustrated people who didn’t need to look far for better and less frustrating games.

Reach has too many playlists and the population is suffering for it. Not to mention a lot of people were driven away by certain gameplay aspects Bungie implemented.
I personally think Reach is the best Halo game, but that’s just my opinion.
There are lots of factors as to why Reach doesn’t have as big of a population as Halo 3.
-Reach has more competition from huge games that Halo 3 didn’t(Battlefield, CoD, Gears, Skyrim, etc.)
-Though I don’t believe in this at all, many people don’t like Reach for reasons that I think aren’t really that big of a deal(AL, bloom, etc.)
-Halo 3 came out right when the 360 did.
I love Halo. The population for Reach, though obviously not as large as CoD or other games, doesn’t affect me that much. I still think that the Halo franchise, and Reach, are amazing.
The problem is that while the new maps are fun to play for a while, who would pick to play those few playlists over the many other playlists in Halo Reach? I have moved back to playing SWAT and Infection, despite the new maps being the best Halo Reach has to offer. Now I wish they would introduce the new maps into those playlists (all of them mind, not just one or two).

This. Halo 3 only had MW1 to go up against it. And since it still had the Halo 3 hype to hold it up it didnt have much trouble. Reach had GOW3, BF3, MW3, Skyrim, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Tons of 3DS titles, a few good PS3 titles and more. Thats the MAIN reason the reach population died down so much. The severe increase of amazing games being released in the past 4 months that people have been waiting for since a year ago or longer.
As for balance, Reach is THE most balanced Halo game to date. you can use almost ANY weapon effectively. IN every previous halo game certain weapons were terrible choices. Only a few weapons were dominant. If the game was “unbalanced” how come I can use different playing styles and CONSISTENTLY do well?
I usually play for fun but if i actually try, most of the time i come out very positive. If the game was random and unbalanced it would be impossible to consistently do well.
But oh well people will always blame the game for their inability to do well in it.
Because no matter how much 343 tweaks Reach…It’s still Reach. It still has bloom. It still has huge hitboxes. It still has Armor Abilities. It still doesn’t feel like a Halo game should.
Lest we not even mention how they decided it was a good idea to include Non-Anniversary gametypes in Anniversary playlists. I can only play Anniversary Classic because I can’t stand having to deal with normal Reach settings and Armor Abilities.
Though, I am surprised that more people aren’t into Anniversary Classic. All 3 shots, all the time. Maybe because they couldn’t remove the “bloom”, which actually doesn’t exist.
Reach was such a huge mistake. Here’s to Halo 4.
Oh, and the raw truth:
Even games like Modern Warfare 3 are better than Reach. Couple that with Skyrim, Battlefield 3, and a few other sluggers coming out…Reach is just an afterthought. It’s the “Oh right, that game still exists…Back to something better.” of the XBL lineup.
That last statement makes your entire logic laughable. Simply saying something is a better game is completely idiotic.
Your Opinion of games doesnt equal fact. EVER. However the fact that the many new games that came out since reach was released being the reason of its decrease in population remains. Its the only neutral unbiased point that can be used.
However facts that contribute to the better standing of the game do. No one cares if you dont think Reach feels like a halo game. Your most likely not going to like halo 4 as well since 343 is never going to go back in time and make halo games play like halo 1 2 or 3. So you may as well just give up on halo like you did with reach cause halo is progressive and it will keep evolving.
TL;DR: Opinion does not equal “Rawtruth”, haters gonna hate, 343i will continue to evolve the halo games, not go back in time to halo 1 2 or 3

I guess thats why everyone uses the DMR, thats why no one uses plasma weapons, thats why the sniper has so much freaking ridiculous bullet magnetism. In the first halo, you could use every weapon. The assault rifle beats the pistol at close range unless that guy can pull off a perfect 3 shot at maximum fire rate (near impossible with strafe). Plasma stun makes plasma weapons a viable option. The plasma pistol kills incredibly fast as well. The pistol CAN kill at extreme ranges but only if they don’t strafe or constantly change their movement speed. These factors combined with little to no auto-aim, plus no bullet magnetism makes it the most balanced game. Reach is a DMR fest with people not even aiming anymore because of bloom. Most of my five shots are spam without moving the reticle, this is not how halo should be played.

I’m sorry but you can not tell me the weapons are balanced. Look at the shotgun on Countdown, or Swordbase.
Most of the people currently playing halo didn’t play halo CE. Reach successfully alienated long time halo fans. The people who play reach are reach fans not halo fans.
If they would put the DLC that we payed for into the playlists that we actually want to play then I believe more people would play. I just don’t feel like going on premium battle where there are only DLC maps, I want a mixture of all the maps like in Halo 3.

Long time Halo Fan here, and a Reach lover. Reach moved forward like it needed to to survive. If it played just like Halo CE,2’s or 3’s mp, what would be the point of buying the game? That’s why they release map packs, to prolong a games life.
The original was a cherished experience but I think our fond memories often cloud our hindsight.

And then they go over to CoD? That certainly, to me, does not make sense.
