Why is the Oddball a two-hit kill?

I think it’s awesome and very useful. This way your team needs to cooperate much more and you have to keep your positioning and movement in mind as holding the ball/flag doesn’t turn you into a 1-hit-kill machine - this way you can’t just camp in some corner hoping that you’ll get some easy kills, on the contrary.
Now your team HAS to keep an eye on you to guard you and the ball respectively. It does make sense.

Holding the ball reveals your location anyway though, so you already can’t camp and need your team to guard you so people don’t just grenade you out of the corner and shoot you down. Reducing it to a two-hit-kill just takes away the only defensive option you had besides dropping the ball.

Try that with you going into matchmaking solo lol

Your location is revealed once you pick up the ball, you’re already at a disadvantage & you have to hope your team are playing for the objective and not kills, in the best case scenario you’re going to have people to rely on but that’s not the rule, it’s the exception.

Having the ball be a one-hit kill gave the person(s) playing for objective security when doing so, now it’s more of a problem created solely to force casual players into a competitive mindset which is not what I wish to do in a social playlist.

its conflicted because 343 and some high paid esport sweat wants it, but the community at large doesn’t . A lot of their post flight update felt like that.

Remember when you were chasing the ball carrier down, they rounded a corner and you had to be careful not to over commit or you would get beat down. Now there is much less caution needed. I think that is a bad thing.

Flags and oddball should be one hit kills, that’s just the base thing. I verbally expressed my negativity to those in my part as I was playing and the three of them agreed. There is no reason for Oddball not to be one hit kill and being slower with the flag is an ok thing but if I’m just gonna sit there like a drunk hillbilly I better have the -Yoink!- strength to defend myself at least.
But no carrying the flag feels like you are a starving puppy waiting to be killed now because your blindness teammates are more focused on kills then the actual OBJ.

Flags don’t need a change in terms of how it plays but in how it feels, it needs to be a one hit else it’s basically for nothing. And who wants to carry the flag or go for it?

Oddball has always been one hit kills and always should be one hit kills.

Lol this is funny.
Get out of here. People hardly play objective. Most of the time the ball carrier is alone because of this. “It does make sense” good joke.

Amen, Buddy!!

I came to the forums just for this! Oddball MUST be a 1 hit kill!

Your team is going to be crucial to your survival regardless if ranked or quick. But
you are left completely defenseless as the ball holder. The least you could get is a 1 hit kill if you live long enough to get close for a melee.

I think you missed the point.

no offense but in this case I have a mindblowing fact for you:

you are not playing alone.

Your team is now your defense, just like it is supposed to.

PS
you absolutely could camp on specific spots and get free multi-kills with earlier oddballs.

Summary

I wish I could “like” this post but the SJWs at 343 believe in gating how many likes and replies you can leave in one day. Sorry bud, I agree that all objectives should be 1-hit-kill.

Two hit kill because killing people with them are challenges. Either suck it up or plop down some cash for a challenge exchanger

100% should be reverted to its original state where flag/ball kills in 1 melee.

I actually got a good amount of kills while holding the ball on live fire today. For whatever reason I never played odd ball before Infinite, so I never experienced the mode with the holder having a one shot kill. I feel plenty powerful holding the ball and honestly enjoy trying to get that second melee in.

1 Hit Kill Oddball carrier is actually what makes the game mode just as competitive as a 2 Hit Kill Oddball, though with 1 Hit Kill, it effects both teams greatly.

As the Carrier, you are visible to everyone in the game. Your location is always noted. You are the target. The enemy will come for you. Your team must protect you to ensure your survival and the timer of the Oddball is in your favor.

The enemies are free to do as they please. 4 shooters vs 3 shooters. They also have the options for grenade throws as well. Here’s what balances it out for them: They now have to be more cautious and not so reckless when approaching the Carrier. They must shoot and dispose of the Carrier from a distance to ensure not only their own safety but their team mates safety as well.

The Carrier having a 1 Hit Kill mechanic is (was) their only defense for when their other 3 mates have their hands tied and the 4th comes for you. If the aggressor makes a mistake and gets too close to you, 1 hit kill them and survive just a tad bit longer. (Yes, as the Carrier, you can drop the Oddball in order to fight back. But what would even be the point when the enemies converge on your position and immediately dispose of you anyways? Keep your hands on the Oddball, literally every second towards your team score counts. No sense in dropping it if you don’t have to.)

With a 2 Hit Kill Oddball Carrier, this greatly affects the Carriers defensive option negatively and allows those on the enemy team to be allowed to make mistakes with the Carrier freely and pay no heavy price for it. Rush the corner into the Carrier and get smacked away? No problem, they can’t shoot you from there or sprint to you to finish the job. You took your lump, now learn from it and shoot him from a distance. Job well done, he’s disposed of and the Oddball is now in your possession. Now you’ve learned not to rush the Carrier anymore or he can deplete your shields. But wait, you don’t learn anything because you know for a fact he can’t 1 Hit Kill you, so you’re free to be careless and if you make that mistake again, no worries. You get a 2nd chance to dispose of the enemy Carrier.

343 Industries, please return the Oddball Carriers 2 Hit Kill back into a 1 Hit Kill. It was always 1 Hit Kill for a very good reason. You can not solely rely on random players to play the Objective accordingly in Quick Play or even Ranked and can not force them to talk back to you and communicate. As a Carrier with a 2 Hit Kill mechanic, you are helpless at range like with the previous mechanic but now just about as helpless even in close range, unlike the previous mechanic.

I believe it should be changed.

EDIT: Another thing to note, people are frequently taking the Oddball out of bounds to reset it’s position to keep it back in their team mates possession when converged upon by the enemy due to the fact the Carrier has a nerfed defensive option. Most Carriers in the previous mechanic would stay and fight when they know they can deal with it/hold their position for their team mates to return, holding onto the Oddball for all those precious seconds to their team score. Now they can not so they send it out of bounds as a way to stay ahead instead.
