Why is the music so quiet?

Why is the music so quiet throughout most of the campaign? I can barely hear it, and not being able to adjust the audio settings makes it all the more frustrating. Was 343 afraid that this music wasn’t as good as Marty’s? I really like it… I think… then again most of the time I can’t even hear it.

Finally someone else who noticed this too. The music is great, it’s just I really have to listen to hear it. It would make some of the missions much more epic if the music was louder. I noticed this especially right when you get into the Scorpion on the 5th level I think.

It’s quiet? The music sounds amazing on my Turtle Beaches.

So the music is loud if you play it through turtle beaches? I may give that a try. I just bought some X-12’s last week.

I have Turtle Beaches and the music is still quiet. The music is part of the game audio, remember, and all sounds of the game completely OVERPOWER the music.

It’s your speaker setup. I use the Turtle Beach X41’s and it’s LOUD. On the 3rd mission, I’m trying to listen to a log from Halsey and I can barely hear it since the music is blaring over it.

Regardless of setup, I think 343 can finally help Halo grow up and give us the options to adjust music/volume/speech. Yes, we know you think your game is the best ever made and you worked hard on the music but people who play your games need options to help enjoy the game.

I have the same problem. I’m really disappointed, because I have the Special Edition Soundtrack (cost me 70+ euros) and I was so looking forward to hearing it in the game. I honestly love the soundtrack, but it sucks that I can hear maybe 5% of it in the game. I mean, not only is the music always way too quiet, it’s also muffled (along with all sound effects, but not voices) during cutscenes and sometimes during gameplay.

It’s also quite ironic that while the OST is supposed to be just a glimpse of what’s actually in the game, I can’t even remember hearing some of the tracks in the campaign… not even after my second playthrough, during which I tried to listen closely to the music to see if I could recognize some more tracks. But usually I can’t hear a thing. It’s especially hopeless trying to hear the music during vehicle scenes. And when you’re in a random fight where you can actually hear the music, then the music isn’t that epic.

Here’s what I’m sure I remember hearing in the campaign (SPOILERS!):

  • 117 in very poor quality during the last fight in mission 4 and in the beginning of mission 8.

  • Pieces of Requiem and Haven pretty early in the campaign

  • A brief glimpse of Solace during the cutscene with the Librarian, I think

  • A couple of seconds of what I think was Faithless during mission 7

  • Pieces of Revival in very poor quality during some cutscenes

  • Arrival and Green and Blue. I’m actually content with these. I could hear them both pretty well, and they were well placed in the campaign. Loved it when G&B started playing when Cortana said “I’m not coming with you this time.”

  • And of course, Never Forget. Man… that sure was a hell of a way to end the campaign!! Finally this legendary track actually made it into the campaign. It only played during the credits, sure, but that’s actually one of the best spots for a great track, it gets the attention it deserves.

(END OF SPOILERS)

Could someone tell me what happened to the super epic scene with To Galaxy? I was really hyped about that track and I was waiting eagerly for it to play during an epic scene. Instead it seems like it’s only in the multiplayer menu, and even then it stops playing once you start searching for a match, which means you’ll probably hear a “dum, dum…” before it fades out, lol. I don’t understand why they made it fade out. It’s so annoying listening to that stupid background noise for like 3 hours when trying to join a Big Team match. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, that turned into a long post. So, does anyone have any tips for this problem? I have a Turtle Beach X12 headset. I’ve never had any kind of sound problems before. But how can some people say that the music was too loud for them, while for the rest of us it was too quiet? I find this very interesting, and it makes me hopeful that maybe there is a way to fix this. I’d rather play with super loud music than the way it is now. I use subtitles anyway.

ya all the music should be dubstep

I AGREE!!! I hate it so much that music plays so silently :frowning: Music in Halo 4 is Amazing, but I can’t hear it well enough. Ascendancy for example, which plays at half way of mission 4 when you are cleaning the landing zone for evacuate. When you are having gunfight you can’t hear the music at all. And this is just one example. Almost all of the Vehicle parts have the same problem. One of the rare moments I feel that music plays loud enough, is the beginning of the last mission with “117” playing.

Please 343i, give us option to change Volume of music via Title update!! :frowning:

Not a clue what any of you are on about, I’m playing it through my TV and the audio is perfect. o_o
