Why is the motion tracker so garbage in 5?

It really feels like people are just appearing right in front of me when my tracker is telling me no one is there. Does anyone else dislike the new tracker?

Yes the new motion tracker is absolute -Yoink- in halo 5.

They might be using the advanced sensor mod which increases radar range and makes you invisible on enemy radars unless you are sprinting or going fast.

The range is severely smaller than past Halo titles.

Cause the UNSC I guess decided that the spartans were too strong with it even though its been in Halo since the beginning

The armor mod doesn’t bother me at all in warzone, arena is usually where it pisses me off the most. Even vehicles seem to just appear and crush me.

Yeah it’s pretty much -Yoink-. I never realized how much i utilized the radar back in the day. Good times. I loved tactically planning out how I was gonna flank them or try and get the drop on the opposing enemy. I dare I say used to be creative and now I just run aimlessly 40% of the time trying to find my teammates getting obliterated or an enemy to get one shot on before 3 enemies come out of the woodwork to gang up on me.

I feel your pain. Happens to me, by the time I see them behind me its too late

radar is bad in halo 5, and i absolutely love it

I would prefer no radar at all, but the new radar range is fine for now. The current radar provides you enough information that you need for arena. The rest should be done by team communication.

Tbh the issue is how fast you move now, peope are on you in full sprint before the radar range can pick them up. There is a simple way to fix this. If a spartan is sprinting have them show up on radar at a larger range than somone who isnt sprinting… done. That would also nurf shoulder barge abit as well

Yeah, didn’t they decrease the range from 25m to 18m?

Why should people be penalized for utilizing a feature in the game? If someone is using ground pound, should there be an indicator that notifies that person, hey I’m above you?

It should be risk reward. Right now in alot of narrow corridor maps, which face it is alot, there is no penalty to charge around and shoulder bash people so you might as well do it. AT worse your hit somone and they will hit you and your trade it happens all the time. There should be risk reward so you have to think more about what you want to do. Also it would help teams set up on maps better with radar on because there is risk in sprinting. Just because somthing is in the game doesnt mean that it cant have a draw back to it.
Also i never said anything about ground pound i was talking about sprinting fix and how it would effect shoulder barge which is a hot topic atm. And id add there already is a risk reward with ground pound because you hear very clearly the jets on the armour and to build up on the slam, plus the fact you hover out in the open for awhile. Hence why people are not complaining about that… becuase it has risk reward. Sprinting has no risk reward unles your shields are down thats it. Hence why everyone runs everywhere and shoulder barges feel like they coem out of nowhere.

The bad radar decreases the skill gap greatly between the lower 75% of the halo 5 player base. It becomes much easier to kill someone when they have no idea you are coming. It was probably intentional, people who just start are able to suprise people and get kills. The top 25% know typical spawns and can place themselves in situations where not having a good radar is not a huge issue. This helps integrate the casual gamers into the game. Imagine playing 1v1 against someone in halo 2 or 3 that has never played the game. Typically, with just having the radar, a veteran would almost never lose a 1v1 encounter with a new player. They wanted to remove that in halo 5.

I think its possible that it helps noober players get some free kills now and then, if it was the case that was what 343i was going for with the radar range then i think they missed thought the effect it would have seing the games speed ect. Also even if pro halo players are not effected by this it doesnt really matter much anyway as they have there own pro settings and they can always change things up if need be. But for the everyday halo palyer who logs in and plays afew hours in MM id say some tweaks would be more than welcome

Yeah. It’s crap. I play games based off of the radar, and now I have to just hope I find an enemy to kill.

Spartan Charge is a huge risk/reward ability. When you are playing the maps that have closed/narrow corridors, you have to be aware of your surroundings. It’s always been like that, since the dawn of H:CE. Longest brings up many memories! I’m not sure how there isn’t a penalty for spartan charge, since if you miss, you are exposed and usually will lose the battle. Even if you do hit your spartan charge, as you say, it’s still not a guarantee you will come out victorious from the battle.

In regards to your map set up comment, if you have a solid map set up, you should not be getting surprised by your enemy spartan charging. If you do, then you and your team did not have the correct map set up. Increasing radar will decrease the chance of flanking your enemies, since now you can see even more of the map, which makes it that much harder to gain control of the map.

So you bring up the noise that is made from ground pounding, which is your counter argument about having an indicator for ground pound, and yet you don’t bring that up for spartan charge? You can clearly hear when someone is sprinting. That is a dead giveaway that you are near someone that is sprinting and if you encounter this person, there is a high chance of being spartan charged. Ground pound, sprint, spartan charge, and clamber all have risk/reward aspects to them. Sprint sure does have a risk/reward aspect to it. Your gun is not drawn, so if someone spots you while sprinting, they will have the first shot, maybe two, and you are probably going to lose that fight.

Same, it forces the player to think more tactically than before, its a true test of adaption in most cases. But I wouldn’t mind a few for metres added to it.

“The rest should be done by team communication”

Because everyone always wants to play in a full grp and sit in a party with 4-8 other people 24/7
And because your friends are always on.
/sarcasm

-Yoink- the people that just want to hop on the game and enjoy some quick matches before going somewhere or the people that just want to solo play real quick.

There we have it again, the kind of people that h5 was made for… Sweaties

Does anyone still remember the days where you had a TON of social playlists and where you could bring over some friends and play with them together? The days when there were no 12 man warzone premades stomping solo players? basically the days when halo had a huge social side to it.
