It doesn’t make any sense. We play as mark VII’s in multiplayer, yeah? So why is that Cavallino helmet the default?
Isn’t that like the Recruit helmet you start with.
But yeah it’s odd they call that the Mark VII helmet when there are technically many many Mark VII helmets.
Technically, the Mark VII helmet is seemingly the ‘default’ in the game engine. Its on the eSports kits and when someone doesn’t load properly it shows them with an uncustomized gray Mark VII spartan equipped with the Mark VII Helmet.
They probably saw the positive reaction to the helmet so they stuck in the free battle pass so that they could lock it behind a 1000Cr purchase (since the free part of the Season 1 battle pass is now unavailable unless you pay for it.)
It’s possibly they felt most people would just use the Mark VII’s head and call it a day. I do admit it’s a nice piece, but I honestly feel the Cavallino isn’t all that bad either.
Both are ( or were ) probably the most popular out of the set. That new one that’s buyable from the store is slowly working it’s way up there with those other two, but it’s slowing down already. I dunno, we’ll see I guess…
It’s because they needed to shoehorn an incentive to get people to play their game. Everyone loved the look of the new armor so instead of giving us the default armor they designed, they took one of the crap helmets and switched it out.
How else would they manage to get people to stick around and finish the battle pass? The color black? Halo Reach’s default helmet? Fire effects?
No. The default armor.
I love it when people mark “missed the point” when I clearly didn’t. They asked why we didn’t get the default helmet initially and had to earn 100 levels to “earn” it.
I answered correctly.
They did something similar in Halo 4.
Warrior armor was originally revealed as the main armor set in the game, and then they switched it to what became Recruit armor (but was probably originally intended to be that game’s ODST variant, considering all the Spartans we see wearing it in Campaign have a blue visor, and black armor)
i believe it was the default? they showed it multiple times in wip artwork, and it’s pretty much in all esports skins. I guess they wanted to incentivize more the bp
Because it isnt?
Like recruit in 4/5
So they make you buy the BP to get it. Smart move, dumb move.
This has been a thing since Reach, now it’s a problem?
Frankly so they could sell it to you.
But! But. Cavallino is a wonderful helmet and if MK V wasn’t available, it’d be my go-to!

[/quote]No, Venture. It hasn’t. MK V [B] was the default in Reach. It was always supposed to be.
I love Infinite and the experience it provides just like you but Venture you need to stop being intellectually dishonest with this forum, it’s starting to show.
I feel like cavallino would be a much cooler helmet if it wasn’t default.
I know people who prefer cavallino over Mk VII
That was a completely different set of armor, Mk VII afaik is the standard issue for Mk VIIs, cavallino is before they’re done training.
We’re comparing Mk VI, Mk V, Mk V [B], and Mk VII to everything in 4 and 5 with your statement.
There was more armor than Mjoinir Mk in 4 and 5 in use.
At least warrior could’ve been earned in a day.
i’m pretty sure it’s in the BP for free. just all the way at the end.
Not anymore, you have to pay for everything in s1
Yeah, pretty sure it was the easiest set in the game to unlock.
The hardest was definitely the full Shard set for Wetwork. You could get the helmet, chest, and shoulders from the Wetwork specialization, but the Shard skin for the arms was locked behind getting 15 perfections in Matchmaking.
Definitely a pair of gauntlets I was proud to have.
Earning armor for specific tasks was cool. I miss it.
Not saying cavallino is a bad helmet I’m just confused as to why it’s the default and not MKVII
What I don’t understand is why they choose the Mark VII to be the level 90 slot instead of the Mark V.
Seriously. It makes more sense for Chief’s helmet to be there instead of the default helmet shown in all the promo material and Spartan Agryna’s origin cutscene.
So they could sell it.
