This is utter insanity and is rather frustrating given that the Custom Game support in Halo games hasn’t improved since Halo 1 (where there was none).
Settler is by far one of my favorite maps of all time already and I am completely dismayed to see that it is not in ANY playlist. I’m at a loss for words as to how on Earth that could come to be.
Why, 343i, why?
I’m going to cry 343i. Why did you do this to me. Why? It’s right there. It’s so great. You’re taunting me with it.
For those of you that don’t know, here’s a walkthrough of Settler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_OoEDOcYKI
I found gameplay footage yesterday when looking for “Why is Settler not in Halo 4 XBL|matchmaking playlist” but it may have been from the leak because I can’t find it anywhere now. Suffice it to say, when I played some custom games with my buddy, it was lots of fun.
I have been wondering the same thing. It’s like a mini-blood gulch. I love small maps that you can play 1v1 - 4v4 on and Halo 4 has almost none. I mean, even the DLC was 3 large maps. The first time i saw Settler I was stoked about playing it. There are actually at least three maps that come to my mind (plus variation on them) that were included with Halo 4 that are not on any playlist still after a couple months of it being out. I have been VERY disappointed with Halo 4 in many ways, to the point where I find myself wishing I had never bought it. They keep going on about the graphics and stuff, but that’s not what makes a game good. I’ve been playing halo for nearly 10 years and nothing comes close to beating halo pc for gameplay in my book because the maps were so amazingly well done for gameplay, and you could actually play them ALL online. lol
They decided they did not want to have any Forge maps in matchmaking to start. They said for the January update they were going to add more small maps. I would think that means they are going to start including Forge variants.
I agree, Settler and Relay should have been in matchmaking from the start.
Settler = Mini Blood Gulch that I agree it needs to be in Matchmaking =)
They are keeping the forge maps out of matchmaking to limit the variety. They do this so people will be bored enough to buy their sub-par overpriced DLC.

they also said shortly after that statement “not talking forge maps yet” which made it a bit unclear if said new maps are going to be forge maps or not.
(At least i found it a bit unclear, lol)
But, they may likely be forged maps, i can’t see them releasing free maps when they already have paid DLC maps planned.

Not sure where you read that. My information came from the 12/12/12 Bulletin.
> We’ll talk more about that when the time gets closer – and that goes for Double Team, Grifball, the addition of more small maps into Matchmaking and the other things we have planned for early 2013 as well.
