Why is the lobby and player search so flaky?

The lobby system has always been a bit fragile but lately its so frustrating just trying to get a game, why is this?

I love this game but trying to match make is really getting me down now.
For the first time since November my party almost abandoned 4 for Reach last night.

-cannot find players
-slow search times even in BTB
-players booted from lobby
-players quitting in voting screen
-constant black screen, leading to party getting booted
-party getting split up into opposition, randoms joining our team
-getting closer to more time wrestling with the lobby than playing.
-cant remember the last time we started with two full teams and ended with the same full teams.

Theres other symptoms but my mind has gone blank.
Is this just me or is everyone struggling with this?

I love this game, but pffft.

Thanks Caaayan, but can you explain to me the precise or technical reasons why this is?
I can’t see the relationship.
Why would that mean more black screens, or people getting thrown out of teams/lobbies?
I understand its harder to find players when the pop is low of course, but this doesnt seem like it should apply to the other problems? Cheers mate.
