Now the battle rifle is a very good weapon in halo infinite but let’s not lie to our selves here. In terms of the sandbox its one of the least demanding weapons in the game. It out ranges everything that isn’t a sniper/marksman rifle and it has the most forgiving aim assist with a large reticle and long red reticle range all complemented by no recoil or bloom.
Seriously it should be a wall pick up with how strong the battle rifle is.
It’s only the ranked starting weapon for no good reason being nostalgia + a lack of a better option.
i like the battle rifle but it out classes the sandbox and that’s just not good game design.
for example i raise the h5 magnum as a superior ranked starting weapon, strong, useful but demanding of the player.
i also feel the h5 magnum (with minor tweak’s) would play better in infinite’s sandbox then halo 5s sandbox

Okay, then put that in the title or the text of your post. I 100% agree with that.
It is just that I hate the Sidekick so much I skip quickplay as much as possible and I hated the flights for that reason. If the Sidekick was the starting weapon in ranked, I would not have even downloaded this game.
I can 100% live with the Halo 5 magnum being the starting weapon in every single game mode and the BR be a pickup weapon.
But for that to happen all the HCS packs are weird.
haha fair point ill add it to the post. i like the side kick but by no means is it appropriate for a ranked starter imo same goes for the ar.
Without a competitive scene, halo wouldn’t be halo. The ranked playlist is hugely important to halos success. Also, even with aim assist most people aren’t going to pick up the game from day one and be good…trust me it took me a solid day or two of playing to figure it out…I do agree the BR once you figure it out is easy to use but I can say the same thing for the magnum…it did take me longer to get good with it but here’s my .2 cents. Use the magnum in close quarters and use movement to stay on their body for shots, not your right thumb stick…even in ranked we’re finding out that if your in a close quarters fight, and you switch to the magnum your better off then using the BR
are you referring to the side kick or halo 5 magnum?
i agree the competitive scene is important which is why i posting about ranked.
a low skill demanding weapon doesn’t represent a skill gap well.
