The Hydra was better at tracking in Halo 5 than Halo Infinite so the Tracking In Halo Infinite is weaker.
Halo 5 only needed 2 shots to kill. In Halo Infinite it takes 3 shots to kill. Plus you spend half you ammo to kill one person and you spend half of your time reloading!
The Hydra can also take up to 4 shots to kill if you use the lock-on feature. It’s no longer one of those “power weapons” in Halo Infinite as it was in Halo 5: Guardians, as well as any other weapons that you get on the wall and I think that’s why it’s very underwhelming here.
Because movement was faster/harder to track in Halo 5 than it is in Infinite.
The “pro-team” probably complained about it, so all power weapons got nerfed into the floor, because E-sports.
You do realize that the previous Hydra (the one in Halo 5) was also in E-sports right?
Yes. Not all feedback gets implemented right away. It was probably noted for the next release, like, we’re seeing now.
I recall similar complaints about Halo 4’s Boltshot. It remained the same in Halo 4, but never again in later titles did it function as a shotgun.
They nerfed the Hyrda because Infinite is slow. Your trash talking about Esports is just flat out wrong.
Edit: The equipment seems to have been designed for competitive play. None of the weapons seem that way in my opinion.
Just because it functions differently than H5 doesn’t make it worse.
Tracking reduced, but in exchange you get a much faster projectile.
H5’s BS where you can lock on and just fire into the sky for kills is gone, which is GREAT.
3 shot kill homing rockets is far more balanced than H5’s 2 shot homing rocket.
2 shot kill non-homing rockets rewards players who take the time to learn the projectile acceleration.
1 non-homing rocket + melee is a kill, giving you a chance at holding your own in close combat.
Fair enough to have your own opinion, nothing wrong with that. Personally, I disagree. Their voices were behind a lot of the balancing changes we saw in Halo 5 that were in my opinion very unnecessary as well as how Boltshot lost its shotgun functionality. They just suck the fun out of the game in name of E-sports. I just want to game to be fun.
I don’t mind the tracking being toned down. I never knew about the whole aiming in the sky thing. My biggest axe to grind is the Boltshot not being a shotgun, and the pile of changes they did to the AR in Halo 5.
everybody complained about that. Incen cannon, Binary rifle were also changed… You think those were due to pros as well?
This is like saying the NFL sucks the fun out of football… Not to say its wrong necessarily, but its an insane argument that Halo is no longer fun due to Esports. Besides, Halo has been in Esports since CE bro, so none of the titles were left untouched if that is your argument.
It’s basically just a 3-shot close range mini rocket launcher and if you attempt to use it any other way you’re going to have a bad time. I basically just use the unlocked function and fire directly at people up close. I only use the lock on feature for vehicles. The situations where lock on is actually useful against players is very, very niche and I almost never find myself attempting it except for giggles and grins.
Of all the things they could have kept from Halo 4 and 5 I was surprised to see the Hydra over the Railgun or SAW. Those two weapons should have had priority and the Banished sandbox should have been shifted to accommodate them, if I had my way. Hydra was lackluster, uninteresting, and not satisfying, and it’s even worse in every way in Infinite, from gameplay to looks to sounds.
the homing rockets take 4 to kill non-homing 3 at least that’s what I was told.
The rail gun would be nice to take out tanks and vehicles.
Those two weapons didn’t change much, their functionality remained mostly identical. I don’t think E-sports had anything to do with that. Not every change made is dictated by the “pro”-team".
NFL doesn’t demand wide sweeping changes that impact everyone else who plays the same game. Just because E-sports was in CE doesn’t mean anything. Like I said before feedback can be noted for future releases.
To be fair the hydra is a “power weapon”. It’s supposed to kill quickly.
It doesn’t spawn on power wepaon pads though… Which yeah, is confusing.
I haven’t played Halo 5 mp in a long time, but if I recall anything that wasn’t a loadout weapon was on a sliding scale of power.
I remember maps that had snipers, or rockets tucked into corners. Granted they were Forge maps that were introduced into multiplayer. Maybe dev made maps worked differently?
So you guys say because it’s slow movement well what so damn hard about increasing the speed in the game. I run all my custom maps at 110% to 120% movement depending the map size. It ain’t Rocket science. I do it all the time. You can change it in less than 10 seconds.
The other alternative is to bring down the shield power down so you can kill people in 2 shots instead of 3 shots. That’s the nice thing about running Custom Games you can set the game up anyway you want!
Map pickups in general need a buff. This sandbox is weak af.
