Unless you were going on solo legendary and apart from a few fights involving the warden and turrets the game was really easy. I’ve never understood why they did this. Enemies just seem to disintegrate and don’t have the damage output to threaten you. The revive mechanic removes the threat of death.
Do you think this was because in Halo 4 lots of people complained about enemies being “bullet sponges” so they made every enemy a 1-3 shot kill with a Battle Rifle.
Its surprising considering how short the campaign was that they made the combat as easy as they did.
On Legendary, the homing rounds from boltshots and suppressors piss me off.
Was it easy? I still find Halo 4 easier than 5 on Legendary, because Soldiers are bullet sponges and are -Yoinking!- everywhere.

Yeah but on previous Halo games, even easy and normal mode still required some effort to play. You know, basic things like avoiding being shot and aiming in a straight line.
Even Legendary is a lot easier than previous Halo games. Purely because of the revive mechanic.

Yes.
How is a soldier a bullet sponge on campaign? Its a 2-3 shot kill with a battle rifle. So, I don’t know, one second of gunfire to kill. Especially since he gets stunned when damaged and obliges you for a final headshot. Basically a weaker elite. Sure its not a one shot like a grunt or crawler, but then theres a lot less of them.

Are we playing the same campaign? I remember standard Soldiers and Soldier Officers taking more than 2-3 shots to kill with a Battle Rifle. Only the Soldier Snipers take a single headshot to kill.
I dunno, might just be me, haven’t played campaign in months.

I’ve never had the impression of them being a tough enemy. Maybe on Warzone where they massively boosted the health to compensate for having 8 players shooting at them. But in campaign they’re a very weak enemy.
TBH H2 was the only “hard” campaign solo legendary IMO. Primarily because of the way shields/health worked, paper vehicles and needing to memorize aimbot/jesus reaction time jackel sniper spots. The triple Warden fight in H5 wasn’t exactly easy either (unless you cheesed it).
Yes, much of H5 legendary was just a time sink. Needing to slowly pick off enemies because they cross map gangrape you with suppressors/light rifles isn’t difficulty. But for the most part every other Halo campaign fit the same mold. It was less about “this is hard” and more about seeing the programmed enemy behavior and formulating a plan to beat it. Once you had a solid plan the difficulty disappeared.
Yes but the gap between legendary and heroic was never that great. Heroic is supposed to be challenging, normal you should need to pay attention and easy for casual. In Halo 5 I felt like Heroic was easy mode unless I hit a turret or warden.

Hard to use revive solo, if I die they get destroyed trying to save me.
Or they are always dead unless you point them to the safest area.
The only parts that gave me trouble in 5 were the Warden Eternal parts. I wasn’t really sure what the best way to beat him was at the time.
I found Halo 3 and Halo Reach to be -Yoink!- easy on Legendary. It was almost always this way.
In Halo 3, the BR solves 90% of your problems. Everything dies from a headshot, even the Flood. The only exceptions are vehicles and Hunters. It’s even made easier with the Catch skull.
In Halo Reach, find the nearest Drop Shield Armor Ability and you basically won’t die without a surprise attack. On top of it, you have invincible AI partners, just hide behind them and they’ll eat all the bullets.

I recently replayed the campaigns (except Reach) and Halo 3 was easily the, well, easiest. Halo 2 is hell on Earth, CE is inconsistent, There is a bit the spawns between 1 and 6 Zealots. every play through I watched showed 1 or 2. I don’t think I got bellow 4. But its not to bad apart from that… and the mission that shall not be named.

no its not you, those soldiers can take a beating, especially on legendary.

If you’re playing with other people of course its going to be easy, but play solo and it can be a nightmare.
If you think this is Easy, go play Halo 2 on Legendary LASO. I did that on the OG Xbox and that made me so happy.

I’d have to agree with this. Halo 4 to me on Legendary is a lot harder.
Especially that mission on H4 in the canyon with the Mammoth.
I wouldn’t call it easy, its easy only if you want it to. Me, as soon as I got the game I started playing it on legendary solo. I was so over confident and so it took me a while to complete it on legendary solo.
Normal and heroic shouldn’t be easy.
I have completed the story solo on legendary, the only times of difficulties I had were when I couldn’t find a hidden sniper who would consantly one-shot me and being unprepared for a hunter fight. I agree, it’s really easy. Solo is time consuming but it’s easy. The friendly AI is just ridiculously useless, though. Sometimes if you get downed at certain spots, they’ll just stare at you because they can’t do the one simple jump up a ledge to get to you.
