Why is the Gravity Hammer so inconsistent?

I have been playing Griftball recently and have been enjoying it however the Gravity Hammer confuses me and I know others will relate to my problem. So you hit the enemy within a very small distance. Instead of dying the enemy hits you back .5 of a second later and kills you. At first I thought it was a lag or host issue however I’ve come to the conclusion it can’t be after playing in plenty of lag free games having the problem against multiple opponents.

What makes the Gravity Hammer so inconsistent?

Truthfully, I have no idea, and I have thought about the ‘who swung first’ theory for quite a while now.

“Lag”

Well, a lot of it has to do with connection, and a lot has to do with player skill. All I can is practice with it, and eventually you’ll get the hang of it.

I wouldn’t know- but my best guess would be a tiny bit of lag.

The game may seem lag free but sometimes little small things happen.

Lag… it complicates the whole competitive argument all the more difficult to define. I know there have always been Lag threads on these forums, but only now am I starting to experience issues with connectivity and lag. I hope 343 comes up with better networking model in H5, cuz this one is starting to lose steam (IMHO).

Its usually a lag. Happens to me a lot, which results in me getting a lot of Revenge Medals. Its funny though, like Noble said, i too always wonder who swung first.

Unfortunately, the effects of lag are greatly exaggerated in Grifball, though for what reason I do not know.

But as someone who suffers with a British connection (fml), I get to enjoy the pleasures of lag every time I play Grifball.
I have the same issue with the Energy Sword.
