Why is the game full of broken 1-shot weapons

Binary Rifle, Railgun, Spartan Laser, Incineration Cannon, Beam Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Sticky Detonator, Rocket Launcher, Fuel Rod Cannon, Shotgun, Boltshot, Energy Sword, etc.

I think the one-shot weapons outnumber the practically-powered weapons and it’s clearly a problem, what’s up with this?

You just need to adapt.

But seriously, that’s why I prefer Legendary BRs.

The Halo 4 sandbox is pretty big. There is bound to be lots of one shot weapons. TBH I don’t really care as very rarely is there more than 2 on a map at a time. It’s not like you can spawn with them either (boltshot sucks now).

it’s called innovation bro, these 1 hit weapons are vastly different from one another and require a lot of skill.

not serious…I agree it’s ridiculous

The boltshot is still the noob friendly weapon that takes no skill. Honestly they should remove that gun

I get what your saying on some of them but can’t really complain on the sniper and beam rifle. If it’s a headshot it should be a 1 hit kill. Then there’s the “Beam rifle has too much aim assist” which is true but none the less it’s a sniper so I’m just gonna ride that one out.

Halo has always had 1 hit kill weapons. Some are balanced by restricting the weapon to a smaller clip, longer charge time, less range, ect. imo the only one the you can say this is too much too is the fuel rod cannon.(5 rounds a clip, 1 hit kill, fast rate of fire. No down side at all)

To be fair, all of these weapons are relatively uncommon drops (save for the boltshot) and I feel the ease of kills with them are justified.

Halo has always had weapons with fast kill times (ie Rockets), so this is more of the same. Though, the skill or way the weapons function are a bit different.

While I slightly agree, without them, I feel that Halo would just be about precision weapons. I like the mix. But I won’t lie, I get a little irked when I get the SAW and immediately get sniped or rockets land next to me the second I pick that beast up.

Oh…and you said spartan Laser twice.

Fingers crossed that 343 releases 7 new 1shot weapons for halo 5 (I mean Halo Xbox:one)

Basically, because Halo has never balanced it’s starting weapons properly (it has always been a case of CE pistol/BR/DMR > Most everything else) Bungie/343 have been very constrained in what else they can add onto the game. It, first of all, has to compete against the swiss army guns which pushes most new weapons to the one shot “power weapon” category.

> Halo has always had weapons with fast kill times (ie Rockets),

But that’s no justification. Halo has also always had problematic online play to say the least but I don’t think that anyone would imply that halo 5 and 6 should lag it up like the “classics” just for the sake of tradition. Now granted connectivity problems are a little more black and white compared balance problems but the core principle is the same in as much as there are definite drawbacks to what Halo has always been. It’s overreliance on POWER to spice up the sandbox not only leads to problematic gameplay in the short term (ie. for each game) but also a lack of innovation over the long term as we only see evolution along one or two weapon classes while the rest of the sandbox stagnates for a lack of usage.

They went away from experimental weapons, weapons that you had to use effectively in their niche to gain kills with (or just not be stupid), to decrease the skill-gap.

Halo 4’s sandbox isn’t even big. It’s just a bunch of re-skinned weapons.

They also made a lot of the weapons that has already existed in earlier games, a lot easier to use, like the Rocket Launcher, Sniper or Shotgun for example.

All the changes made to Halo 4 is where done because of two things: To make the game appeal to a larger player-base and make it easier.

The only one that’s arguably broken is the boltshot… other than that, the rest are pretty balanced as far as power versus rarity goes. Honestly, I can understand a lot of player’s complaints with this games, and even the praises people give it, but this I just don’t comprehend. I mean, unless you’re going out of your way to avoid the fact that these are all called power weapons for a reason, I don’t get why you feel the need to complain about this. If anything, I thought these weapons were awesome to the game.

I really don’t see a problem.

If these were loadout weapons I would have to agree that there are too many. but these are weapons you should be picking up, And power weapons. Ordinance drops are the real problem in this department. because at that point you are just about spawning with a Rocket launcher or SAW. I like it because as someone who likes to make maps, a wide variety of weapons to put everywhere is nice. even if most are just slight variations.

I do still see what you mean though. there are far more one-shot power weapons than more funky ones like the concussion rifle or needler. and to a level it does disappoint me as well

Oh yeah. There are a lot of one shot weapons in this game. More one shot weapons than regular weapons. Never could understand that, honestly who decided that it was okay to implement that many 1sk weapons.

So it’s finally happening. Now even Halo 3 weapons aren’t good enough.

And 1SK DOES NOT equal an automatic kill. Just… C’mon guys. You know better than that.

You can’t talk about broken weapons without saying “Scattershot”.
