Why is the DLC delayed?
If 343i was releasing Warzone Firefight and needed 1-2 weeks more, that I could understand.
But - they are releasing just the new REQs and map. All they said they would.
So - why is the DLC delayed to April? They said they’d release a DLC every month.
Does that mean all future DLCs are a month delayed?
Well, they did work on redoing some of the existing btb maps and testing community maps for btb and grifball that were added into the playlists. And those new maps (especially btb) are a breath of fresh air.
It’s delayed because all of us are game developers and don’t understand process of releasing it on to it like this there is a good chance it was delayed because other work was taking place such as the Halo championship series and well maybe that UI update for this update too
You got to love these complaint threads they’re complaining about free updates and the update has not been fully revealed yet and they’re still complaining so sad.
But they didn’t make these maps - they just added them, right?
I don’t really see an explanation why the DLC is delayed.

These maps still need to be thoroughly tested and updated(if necessary) before being OK’d for rotation. The DLC delay was mentioned in a past community update and is in part due to the Halo World Championships last weekend.

hahahahaha ya no thats not how that works.
Here is a post from Bravo on Reddit explaining things
> Hey everyone - happy to chime in with an update and a little bit of context and transparency into process. Up front, I don’t have an exact ETA just yet, but will work to provide one in future blogs. We’re working with the multiplayer team on getting these in as fast a humanly possible - and Community BTB is next up - but it’s also worth noting that the teams that do this exact work (Multiplayer, Test, Services, and Forge) have all been going non-stop to deliver their respective components of the Hammer Storm update. We’ve got a good size team, but it takes everyone moving at 110% to deliver things like new game modes, Forge updates, service improvements, etc. (Which we hope you’re enjoying!)
> Surely that doesn’t require much work? When making games, “things” take quite a bit of work from a variety of teams. This will vary depending on engine and platform. To use BTB maps as the example here, once these are collected, they are first playtested with community members to ensure that basic things function correctly, map is playing well, nothing obviously broken, etc. If things need to be changed, we’ll work directly with the Forgers on changes, and start again. Breakout was a relatively quick process as Forgers didn’t need to worry about spawning. However with BTB, we’ve found that while many of the maps look incredible, they need aheavy amount of respawn work and adjustments - which means we can’t yet bring them into our internal environments for test passes, and they have to be tweaked and tested a bit more.
> Once they’re ready, they’re brought into our internal pipeline and reviewed / playtested by the multiplayer team for quality, map flow, etc. If there are any changes that need to happen at this point, we’ll once again revisit with Forgers. The goal at this point, however, is to have brought in a map that is essentially MM ready so that we’re not spending man hours playtesting content that isn’t 100% ready.
> After this, actual testing will begin, which means the H5 test team performs the full test passes that all Halo maps get before they’re released into matchmaking. This is a long checklist, but it ensures that everything works.
> If these pass, the work will begin to actually build these into playlists, and once completed, the updated playlist then goes through playlist testing as well in the internal environments - things like matching, map / game type combos loading, playlist parameters, etc are tested here.
> If everything passes, the updates will be slotted into future matchmaking updates and ready to be sent out the door.
> This is a paraphrased version of the entire process, and I am no doubt missing many granular details. Once everything is brought inside, there are still weeks of work required to make sure that we’re delivering quality experiences in matchmaking. On top of that, the same guys and gals who bring you anything else related to multiplayer are the ones who do this work, so things like new game modes that are being requested have to be prioritized with playlist updates.
> We love the BTB maps we’ve seen so far, and I’ll be sure to continue to provide updates on the maps and where we are in the process.
> tl;dr: These things take a bit of time, but the team is working as fast as possible to ensure we’re getting you awesome stuff that plays and works well.
delays happen. When they do happen, a publisher may force a broken game out, then fix it with a couple of patches, which seems more hated than the still highly hated option of just delaying it for a while. With the delay, you’ll end up getting a (hopefully) well working and well made maps

Maybe they were busy with the tournament. And I hope the other future DLC aren’t delayed.

They need to playtest them to resolve any glitches, its a very lengthy process.
I’m sure they had a good reason to delay the update but I really think not only BTB and The Grifball could of used new maps but the ranked playlist too…Maybe like the forge maps in Breakout…This should happen often…But like I said I am still looking for more medium and large sized Arena maps…People complained about remix I still want those remixed maps AND the new freshly created maps…I specifically wanna see maps on sanghelios and the planet where the tank spawns…I want more arena 4v4 maps based off of places in the campaign…and even based off of the commercials…I want to see a map with a guardian as well…The commercial I am referring to is the one were Chief is downed and Locke was pursuing and trying to apprehend him. I wouldn’t mind playing a lot team slayer on a lot of maps based on the commercials…I feel like these things should be here…and if anything HALO 5 should have the most content out of any of the HALO’s thus far…and a lot of these weapons seem to be REQ/Warzone exclusive…I don’t really think that is fair some of these REQ’s should be available in customs and forge and in some cases arena game modes…That’s just my take…I don’t see warzone as being rendered useless because of this. I defend this game left and right and am always offering constructive advice etc…But the truth is the game is moving kind of slow…If the things I advise were in the game already or though about it would probably have sold more…They should be considered…No complaints. Just saying. It’s a great game but why settle for less? When you could have more…I also think old gametypes should return…Especially race…Rocket Race was fun…But in this HALO there are seemingly way more options for race…But another thing I noticed about race maps is. The people who make race maps NEVER make the tack wide enough for you to be able to get in front of someone…How in the hell is that a race? People are asking for stuff but are not provide the details to get in in the game…There is also this guy on youtube named “The Act Guy” who makes some pretty solid statements and arguments…All I know is HALO should be a priority…343i does do a lot of things right I will say that…I am a really big fan of how solid the gameplay is as far as competitive goes…But besides that if I wanted to point more stuff that I could improve as far as campaign etc I would but I am really focused on MP…I feel like it’s a great game don’t waste it’s potential…But really I would really enjoy seeing a SMG with an energy bayonet in a custom game or arena…Like I said though the more content the better…This game just needs more options and variety…The wait makes people bored and what they really need is new maps etc…TO make up for this wait so they can experience the gameplay…The community has to be active for it to thrive…and people have to want to play the game…and no one wants a boring game.
Honestly this and last update just feels like stuff we should have had at launch… Halo 2 had more base content and maps and gametypes than halo 5 and that game came out in 2004
More is coming with the update than just want the pacifist are already complaining about. Also they had the HWC, work on the community made btb maps that were releases and heck maybe they took a spring break vacation.
The DLC is delayed because 343 has been partying and turning up for the last three weeks and forgot to make the update. They realized they need more time so they delayed it.
Is that the answer you were looking for? Because otherwise it’s that they needed extra time to make sure everything was ready per their own testing standards. But by all means, feel free to believe the first part. We all know this post is for nothing. It’s a hypothetical for you to say your piece about 343, and how they are “insert entitled remark about people we know nothing about here”
The other updates won’t be delayed according to 343, you should read the community updates.
Sometimes things don’t go perfectly… they’re not jesus
The Blurred image next to the Skirmish at Darkstar picture in the teaser looks like a biohazard symbol if you look at it enough. Maybe we are getting infection.
Looking at the amount of content coming in this update, I see no reason why this particular update would be the one to be delayed. Effectively a month with no updates, that is pretty shocking considering how Halo 5 is still in desperate need of content. The community maps were nice but still doesn’t detract from the obvious gap in “official” content. They’re not making up for it by releasing the actual “april” update at the end of the month either so effectively March was a waste of time

If they are so thoroughly tested, then why did griffball court have such an exploit? A simple kill barrier over the glass while they were ‘testing’ would have avoided this.

Becuase you can’t test everything. There’s a post here by Nokyard that explains what happened
