with halo 5 coming up, it seems as if almost the whole halo community has been divided into two parts, loyalists and criticizers. and right now it seems as though the criticizers are prevailing. where ever I look some community member is criticizing halo 5 even though it is still not released. why is the community so negative?
What, I can’t enjoy a game without being aware of its flaws? C’mon, man.
Your argument cuts both ways. Why praise Halo 5 even though it’s not out yet? Fans have the right to do both.

no no no no. the people on waypoint are that way, and so are the people fishing for views by pushing out hate content on youtube. The people on these mediums are less than 1/100 of a percent of the total community and don’t speak for everybody. I should also point out that most of the people on the the forums and those hate videos are trying to pick a fight, and a majority of them have no facts to support their arguments. Many people come to the forums and those videos with the sole intent of venting their anger, and the vast majority of people that are either content or looking in a more positive way tend to not feel a need to hop on the forums and give praise. People will always complain, even if there is no reason to, that is what I like to call ignorance.
Edit: And almost every person who complains about something on waypoint feels as though they are entitled and whatever they want and “know” is fact. That kind of thinking is detrimental and will make the community look worse than it actually is. The more people realize this, the better off these forums would be.
Edit 2: Case in point, go to most ready up live videos and you wont see many hate comments, most are excited for Halo 5 and are looking forward to the game.
I don’t know why. People are still butthurt about 343 making Halo and are looking for any reason to complain.
A lot of people are disappointed that some of the material is delayed, like forge.
I say take what you get and enjoy. Like the positive thread for once.

No need to “look” for reasons. They’re right in our face.
At first I didn’t like the idea of 343 making Halo because I was a bungie fan at the time. Now I don’t mind. I just want the game to release so I can play it. 343 did good with the halo 5 beta. I just have a few worries about the ranking system.
The community isn’t negative, you are just concentrating on the things you perceive as negative.
Since some people don’t like sprint, Halo 4, and Halo MCC they have to release a dislike towards something. A lot of people honestly have never wrote the “Hello World” Program even so they don’t understand how much work goes into games.

I do believe this is the best thing I have ever read on these forums. Exactly the reason why, you dont need any more than this explanation to understand why there is negativity. Thank you so much.
People love to complain… it’s the same as sports forums when their team is having a bad day/year/etc.
However this place sometimes seems like the equivalent of nitpicking an undefeated team because they didn’t win by enough points.

Tom has no right to complain about his malfunctioning car engine because he has no idea how much work goes into making cars. Top notch Waypoint logic here. You guys are like a giant hive mind of blind optimism. If you can’t criticize the things you love, you don’t really love it.

Nobody here has played the final product of Halo 5, yet everyone has something to complain about. If you really want to bring up the damn car analogies again, let me show you what these forums are actually like. Tom has a dodge that broke down on him and eventually got fixed for free, hes looking to buy a newer model but is complaining about it, even though he has never driven it, nor has anybody else. Tom is basing his opinion on previous experiences outside of the vehicle hes looking at rather than looking at the facts.

Except this newer model is going to be missing a tire, the stereo, windshield wipers, and other important features once it is released. So Tom has the right to complain that this company is repeating the same mistakes. Oh, and the older model took about a year to get fixed up until it was in a decently functioning state. Tom angry. Tom can criticize.

No kidding! On of the most popular threads is someone complaining about the way the main menu looks…The -Yoink!- menu!!!

Not to mention that we have seen gameplay footage. Allow me to trade the car analogy for a far more crude one: have you ever eaten a turd? No? Then how can you say it tastes bad? The obvious answer is that the rest of our senses lead us to that conclusion. It smells bad, it doesn’t look particularly appealing, and maybe you even know someone who ate one in your place and you were able to judge from that (don’t ask). Sure, there exists the possibility that we’re totally wrong and that my dog is onto something when she eats it, but if our intuition and context clues tell us otherwise, is that a risk you’re willing to take?

i can’t speak for everyone but imagine you liked to go to this place, had many activities you liked there, really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. It was a regular hangout and it seemed to really cater to your interests, every few years it had a makeover but it kept the same vibe. all of a sudden the manager left and was replaced by a person who had a vision to turn the place more into a modern club since these get big audiences. You start feeling really outside of that experience and feel the heart and soul of what you enjoyed is gone, some of the people that were in the old place don’t mind it, some even prefer it, but the people who preferred how the old place was now have nowhere to go for a similar experience, because when you look around all there is are other modern clubs.
there use to be such variety in shooters, now look at halo, battlefield, CoD, crysis, titanfall, rainbow six, battlefront and destiny, all becoming more mechanically homogeneous, visually homogeneous, even the narrative of all these games feel like a typical blockbuster . it’s usually just the theme, and a few unique selling points that are the biggest differences these days.

man you seemed to sum up the common waypoint user in a nutshell and the ignorance, deflection and fallacies a person with any form of opposing opinion has had to deal with for the past 5 years. i think you’ll find it’s the ho-hum posters like yourself that come and go more than the ones with criticisms.
I really like what 343 has done with Halo 5 and it looks like they have poured a lot of work into it, but it doesn’t take much digging to see how much 343 has done so terribly wrong. A lot of people have very good reason to be critical of 343.
