Why is the BP so crappy for f2p guys?

You barely get anything for free and then most of what you get for free is a bunch of challenge swaps that, oh boy, let you swap out challenges to get an easier challenge that lets you get more challenge swaps faster, WOW.
Let’s count of the f2p content in the BP, shall we?

66 “free” rewards
26 free cosmetic items
Only 40% of the “free” rewards is actual content. 343 isn’t even trying to hide it, all they are out for is our money!
Now lets count up how much of the free content is actual armor cosmetics
19!!!
4 of those are visors!
5 of those are Coatings!
Only 10 actual armor pieces for free from the BP!
They are ripping us off so we will want to spend money to get ANY customization.

Here is how it should’ve been (challenge system is scrapped and performance based XP comes in)
Items are crosscore compatible

Free level 1. Helmet
level 2. Helmet attachment
Free level 3. Visor
level 4. Chest
level 5. Gloves
Free level 6. Left shoulder pad
Free level 7. Right shoulder pad
level 8. Utility
level 9. Wrist
Free level 10. Knee pads
Free level 11. Coating
level 12. Kit (Kits are just a preset spartan that makes classic spartans without you having to search to make them, they should be customizable with other cosmetics as well)
Free level 13. Backdrop
level 14. Emblem
Free level 15. Pose
level 16. Nameplate
Free level 17. AI color
level 18. Helmet
Free level 19. Helmet attachment
level 20. Visor
Free level 21. Chest
level 22. Gloves
Free level 23. Left shoulder pad
Free level 24. Right shoulder pad
level 25. Utility
level 26. Wrist
Free level 27. Knee pads
Free level 28. Coating
level 29. Kit
level 30. Emblem
Ect, ect

They wouldn’t make money if they didn’t manipulate the player base into buying MX. It’s designed like this on purpose so that you feel left out and will want to buy something

This is the first time I have ever played a seasonal game and not purchased the season pass. There truly is nothing that appeals to me.

Hopefully season two is better.

Exactly, “we’re coming at this from a playerfirst perspective”
Bullcrap, all they want is more money.

Answer: Because the first battle pass sucks.

I think it has an opposite effect, at least for me. I’m more likely to not buy something if I feel like I’ll be missing out on something in the future that I like more… not gonna spend money over and over after new stuff comes out, you know.

If the answer isn’t obvious it’s: money.

Unfortunately not for most people. Personally, If they add in crosscore, add earnable credits, fix progression system, add a rank progression system, and fix the store, then I would buy a lot

I mean…it’s free so what more do you want? It’s only $10 to get all the other stuff.

This right here is why.
“It’s only $10 to get all the other stuff”
The point is they are giving f2p scraps so they will feel more inclined to buy stuff. It is all a cash grab.
And a game can be free and be fair to players, Infinite is one of the worst f2p models I’ve ever seen

Yeah that’s called marketing. They kind of suck at the whole thing and always have, but it they give all the good stuff away for free nobody will ever buy anything. The battlepass was well worth $10, which is by far one of the most affordable battlepasses in any game I’ve ever played. They’re usually at least $20.

The main issue is of course that too many of the tier rewards are just xp boosts and not, say, credits for the store or more cosmetics.

No, it’s actually not

How is giving the f2p players actual content giving all the good stuff away for free? Different people find different items good, there isn’t a standard, lol

Never said otherwise

Yes it is. You give people a taste and then offer them more for a price.

What do you want specifically for free?

Kind of hard to taste crumbs

Actual cosmetics, armor. The events and BP are just padded with other items so they don’t have to give actual out for free. The Tac ops is the only good looking event imo.

Winter Contingency
3 armor pieces
2 coatings
This is ok

Cyber Showdown
1 Coating
1 visor

Tactical Ops
1 visor
1 helmet
1 helmet attachment
1 chest
1 hip attachment
1 glove
1 coating

That’s a good event, it has quality content and isn’t just padded with other stuff that is pretty useless.

The Tactical Ops has almost the same amount of armor cosmetics as the BP
Kind of sad when a 10 level event pass has almost half of the same kind of content as your 100 level seasonal pass

Ditto on what DeadCassette said. It’s all to shame the freebies and entice them to the point of buying into the system.

And to add insult to injury, they slap freeloaders in face by placing all the “cool stuff” (i.e MK VII helmet) so far into “free BP,” to just get by with the tedious and abysmal challenge and progression system! But hey they toss us a bone and allow us to only unlock some coatings in campaign (like a darker shade of gray).

Spread them wallet folds wider and get your bucks banged by daddy Mcro$oft, and you can have shiniest, trendiest coatings, accessories and armor for the price of $19.99* :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

*Each sold separately

Same reason we have “coatings” instead of being able to pick your own colors. Same reason Visors/coatings, helmets aren’t crosscore, because of $$$$. Gloves and Utility could be crosscore too.
Crosscore is possible! They just want to milk us as much as they can

100% They couldn’t repackage and sell the color blue for your Samurai Spartan if coatings could be used universally.

That is an unforgivable sin, selling freaking colors! SMH

I don’t think this is true.
I’d buy things if everything wasn’t so awful.

  • Few free items unless you play for several years.
  • One Battle Pass with a limited selection of items.
  • Armors removed from campaign and only low-effort items to unlock.
  • High shop prices.
  • Low-effort weekly rewards that take a lot of effort to unlock.
  • Annoying challenges and XP system to encourage buying swaps and boosts.
  • FOMO shop.
  • $60 campaign with far less worthwhile content.
  • Bugs everywhere.
  • Co-op, Forge, Firefight and other modes drip-fed.
  • Shoulders and emblems being considered multiple items.
  • Cores limiting customization.
  • No secondary or detail colors.
  • Simple colors being sold.
  • etc.

All of things have been conditioned out of the newer generations. As a whole people are ok with less now. You might not buy them because of those reasons but someone is

It’s not right.
Games are turning into a chore, and you have to spend a lot to get anything, and even if you do, you’re not going to get as good of an experience.
