seriously, the AR is actually incredibly useful in this game so far. No joke, i would rather keep my AR and drop the Pistol. and heck even than a LOT of the time i keep my pistol/AR combo anyway. depending on playlist and map of course, but the AR is usually something i use. especially since if you know how to use it its pretty deadly
The assault rifle is decent (and pretty good with a longshot scope) it just can’t consistently compete with more popular weapons like the battle rifle.
Another thing the ar does this time is as you fire it, it rises up, so you have to counter that just as if it were the real deal to keep your aim on target
The only thing the AR needs is to have the headshot multiplier removed when hipfiring, and added only when zoomed in and restricted to a three round burst, so it still can’t net a headshot kill, but has slightly higher long range utility and demands better shot placement when aimed.
How Ian it bad? It’s one of the best and balanced versatile weapons we have now.
Look at CE, big clip, slow reload and melee, terrible damage and accuracy but a nice ttk in close range and rate of fire. Halo 3, near useless due to how bad it is. Reach, buffed but has been given bloom. Halo 4 with a buff in damage but that’s about it. Halo 5 has decent accuracy, range, damage, and can kill people at.mid range sometimes. Point is get good and practice.

no its not. it fills a very specific niche range. its a close to mid range, though against an SMG it is better than the smg at a slightly longer range. at a much closer range the SMG wins over the AR, all things being equal.
As for an increase in fire rate, no it is actually fine the way it is. again, you need to learn to use it. I spend months learning to use the AR in halo 4 because it was fun -Yoink!- people off with it. That carried over pretty decently into halo 5 so might be why i have no problem with it. and nope, i will also usually stick with the AR if i am in a map with more close range stuff over the smg any day. it has slightly more uses over all, especially if you put up pop shots into long range enemies that your team mates are shooting at.

It’s bolded, but this statement isn’t true. It isn’t specific when players in higher levels use it toe to toe with the magnum.

oh, well what do you consider higher range? even when I am in diamond/onyx i still see people using AR’s pretty often when its idea.
And while that is true i was more comparing two fully auto weapons. the argument totally changes when you take 2 weapons from 2 different types. and the range. since he compared the SMG and the AR
For example, if im close range against someone who is using a precision weapon, i would much rather have my AR out, i have the typing advantage in that not counting skill. but reverse it and its more mid range i would rather have the pistol than the AR. So again its very specific.
I do agree with you though that being highly skilled can also throw things out the window in general. im just stating things all things being on the exact same level, just changing the weapon in question.
