Look at this guy. Onyx and wins in his division exclusively using the assault rifle? Why aren’t precision weapons more rewarding? I mean you do you have to aim down the sights and point at the head correct? Or is this game just going to devolve to a call-of-duty, automatic, sprint fest?
Its not. The only way you are dying to an ar is if hes five feet away from you or you are awful with the pistol or br.
obviously rate of fire and range, you dont see an AR winning a firefight from across the map in warzone
The br and dmr are better at long range. The AR is way better close to mid range.
If you’re good at aiming, the br and dmr will outclass the AR. But the AR is very noob friendly.
What concerns me more is the mp. I see almost no purpose for the AR because it’s weak long range and close the mp is way better.
The magnum does have a faster kill time and rewards players for having thumbs, but the damage output of using an AR is only slightly lower. Unless you catch and AR player with your magnum and hit all five shots (and still only just live), there’s no point using it. the effectiveness to effort ratio of the automatics is much higher than magnums and because of that, discourages skill.
Hopefully automatics will get a nerf eventually.
The assault rifle is doing so much better because its close range. If 1 player is using a precision weapon and the other is using a assault rifle and both players are landing all their shots and its a close range fight, the assault rifle will win. Plus in that video, most of the players aren’t even using precision weapons when they fight him. Most are just using assault rifles too and when they are using the precision weapons, they aren’t landing all their shots anyways not to mention that landing shots with a automatic weapon is alot easier than with precision weapons.
The assault rifle is only better when both players are like 5 feet away from each other and the player with the precision weapon can’t aim.
Each weapon has its place… The ar is for mid range and up close.
The AR is not “better”. It wins at close-short mid ranges. Beyond that it gets hammered. People need to learn how to move and pick fights they can win, and escape those they can’t. Simple. The BR/DMR are both superior by quite a margin in my opinion - grenade/headshot combo, plasma pistol/headshot, etc are all edges that precision weapons have over the AR.
Wait until a tournament organizer gets settings in place, people will not be rewarded for using a low-to-no skill weapon.

discourages skill? wut. pistol is easy as sh%& to use. oh look at me and my buddy’s going round map headshotting any lose strays on the other team… If you manage a AR kill against all this crap then well done.

FFA is really hectic right now with 8 people, though, and results in a lot of close range fights. So far I’ve been trying to only use precision and it works pretty well, but if I miss one pistol shot at close range I’m done. I’ll be trying out the AR next time unless I get a setup where I can force ranged fights (and hopefully catch others with their AR out for an easy win).

Maybe this is the case at gold 1 rank, playing less-than skilled opponents… but it’s not once you reach higher ranks. Super Seville is 100% correct, “the effectiveness to effort ratio” of the AR/SMG compared to precision weapons is terrible. Let me break it down for you. The automatic weapons, AR, SMG, etc, take little to no skill to be used effectively. While precision weapons take a much more skill to use effectivley, resulting in players with less skill being able to compete at the same level with a player of higher skill. It’s like a spelling bee, I’ll spell words from memory/education while you can use a dictionary…
both guns (AR v P)will kill you in the same time, its just the ar has to be trained for the whole clip on the target, it seems all the guns have the same kill ration but they have a nuance which is what i believe they call balance
Congratulations, he won a match using only the AR on a single claustrophobic map. Nothing was shown to indicate anything negative to gameplay.
We go from asking if the AR is better to seeing the given player beating AR users with an SMG. He won the lobby. Take it as it is.

I play with with a friend who is diamond , so will play against platinum, diamond, onyx. Also a team with pistols will ALWAYS destroy a team with AR’S for obvious reasons. the pistol is a power weapon and when used effectivly as a team makes the AR useless. Pistol needs the nerf, not AR.

Read it again, clearly you missed the point.

seems all you play is free for all, which means you mus be frustrated with people using AR without a team backing you up with the pistol.

Arena maps are pretty small to mid size with small to mid line of sight, AR has a good chance at this range.
