Why is the aiming so difficult? Halo infinite is the most difficult game I’ve ever tried to aim and shoot

100% same boat here… The sensitivity setting is pretty useless. I’ve timed the spin rate on 5 versus 10, and they are identical when acceleration and input threshold are maxed… There’s no real way to increase sensitivity (or lower it) meaningfully. Just like you, I’m hopeful they’ll fix it, which isn’t unreasonable given it wasn’t like this in the flights or previous titles.

I agree that aiming is difficult with weapons that require near-absolute precision such as the sniper /pistoI and is not as consistent in the older games, but the reticule is sooo significantly smaller and thinner which frankly disappointed me; it does affect how people shoot. I would prefer they implement some sort of sensitivity presets to match the earlier halo games so we don’t have to tweak the settings every 5 seconds while we play, and so that we feel like we are playing a games that Feels like halo sensitivity wise, not just a halo skin game. the settings ive gotten comfortable with are pretty consistent for every weapon except for absolute accuracy weapons like the sniper or the skewer(for sniping players), but i would much rather the aim be consistent for all weapons, though i do see how the commando can have hard handling I don’t disagree with that. though i think the issue with these sensitivity tweakings are that it does give players an advantage over aiming, very much the same with button presets, but at least we would be dealing with a similar set of presets which would cause less havoc and confusion during actual gameplay.

I haven’t had any issues with aiming. I’m using defaults and just upped horizontal to six and I’m consistently in top two or so of most every game for kills (if it’s slayer). I never feel like I’m being robbed or anything. I always leave defaults and barely touch them till I have a good feel of how it’s playing. Constantly messing with settings (not saying you are) before you get the hang of it would just make it harder to get a feel for IMO. Troubleshoot it that way. This game feels so dang good. Loving it.

okay, so it’s not just me then? I can’t put my finger on exactly what’s up with infinite, but my accuracy on both mouse and keyboard and controller seem to be half that of my accuracy in any other halo title. I thought I was going crazy, or suffering some kind of rapid degeneration or something.

Yeah, I’m playing on Xbox One S with a wired controller, TV set to game mode, HDMI output matched to the TV’s resolution, and still the default controller aim settings are not very responsive; it feels like an endless over & under-correcting nightmare when trying to play with default settings. I’ve lowered my deadzones to 0, raised the acceleration to 5, and I’m experimenting with the threshold levels. It’s a night and day difference, but still not as smooth and responsive as any other Halo game. I don’t understand what inspired this change of form, and I feel like it’s going to turn a lot of people off to the game. I’m wondering if it’s an issue with Xbox One consoles being 30fps, and/or somekind of HD scaling causing input lag or jittery frames or something…idk. I love everything else about the gameplay, but getting the aiming right out-of-the-box is a really big deal for any shooter. Hopefully it gets addressed before the Dec. 8 launch.

Lower your FOV. You’ll get a larger reticle making it easier to hit your targets.

It’s not just you contrary to what a lot of people are posting on this thread. Aiming on controller feels clunkly compared to any FPS I have ever played.

Doubt they’ll ever fix it though

Aiming on controller does feel bad, its hard to pinpoint why but it doesn’t have anything to do with the sensitivity settings, something is just off about the aim assist system in place right now, it doesn’t make aiming comfortable or intuitive like a good system would.
