Why is the aiming so bad?

First of all, I´m not here to talk trash about Halo 5

Halo 5 is one of my favorite halos, really it feels like good old days to me, and ive been playing since the release, really, a lot, always being diamond in ranked arena.
And at first the aiming was right, I really had a good time on matchmaking, but then since about a month the aiming just feels awful to me, i cant hit anything, really even having an enemy in front of me it seems impossible.

Am I the only one here with this little problem? I knew that at the release there were also people like me, but at release I never had such problem, even with the acceleration at 0 my aiming just goes flying when I look or aim to an enemy with a sensitivity of 4 or less.

I notice something when the updates come out but I am pretty sure it is just in my head. I haven’t noticed my movements being too fast though, it sometimes seems a little slow to me.

I cant seem to find a sweet spot either. Either too slow or too fast.
I don’t know the issue but I’m going with one factor being lag. It throws everything out.
With minimal lag I’m confident and the aiming is more responsive.
It’s not just you though, there are many threads about aiming issues that people can’t quite explain.

It feels the same to me. I haven’t noticed any change.

I haven’t noticed a difference in my aim per se. It has always been a little wonky, but I have noticed a difference in my aim percentage stats. Since this last update it has been about 10% lower than it has been.

Well the best way for me to describe the aiming is its erratic for me. Some games it seems decent then other games its all over the place. What makes it frustrating is that its hard to fine tune something that isn’t consistent to begin with… So it leaves me a bit puzzled. Ive never had this problem with other halo games. So again this just adds to me thinking why?? Maybe its server related… Just not sure… :-/

thanks… i guess…

I noticed my aiming go seem to be more erratic. I have trouble anyway and was slowly getting better, but since the update it flies everywhere.

It seems the same to me. Could it be variations in the skill of opponents? Because that does change.

I believe the connection to the server / host has a lot to do with it.

Some games, with lag and crop connections, you could be aiming right at somebody’s face and not hit them.

Some games, with great connections, and little to no lag at all, you can be looking the complete opposite direction of someone and 1080 no scope kick flip without even being anywhere in the same vicinity as your console while blindfolded.

LOL if only! But I know what your mean. On good connection with the BR sometimes I can tell I’m no where near and still I get a head shot. Most times though when I think it should be a head shot it doesn’t get there.

The problem lies in the new aim mechanic implemented by the pro team after the H5 beta
I refer to it as the two turn style aim mechanic
(please note the following integers are for example only and not actual integers used)
They have created an aim mechanic that has two very different purposes built into one
From 0% - 60% on your right aim stick is precision aim
from 61% - 100% (pegged) is turn mode

now the problem is this
Aim mode is too slow (especially diagonal aiming) and turn mode is too fast, and there is no smooth progression between the two
once you hit that 61% intentional or otherwise you enter turn mode and your aim goes all over the place

All of these additions to options in aiming help minimise the problem but will not fix the issue because the issue is the mechanic itself

I for one hope they go back to a more traditional aim mechanic for H6

I agree I hope they go back to a more traditional aiming mechanic… And if 343i keeps listening to these Pros well then it looks like they will all be playing by themselves. That’s one thing that gets me about 343i they sure know how to screw up things that didn’t need fixing. There bread and butter doesn’t come from these Pros either. They should have never introduced this mechanic to make a game competitive its the players that make it that way naturally… Thanks for the info…
