Why is Sprint standard?

Why does everyone get sprint? It is totally unnecessary. I wish it was just an armor ability again. Now you get shot twice, run away, and survive.
Do we really need to sprint?

Because in Reach… Most people used sprint and jetpack. 343i thought it would spice things up if every one had sprint and an armor ability.

Unless 343i replies to questions like these and gives us insight into their design decisions, we simply will never know.

And yes they do give us some insight into their design decisions from time to time, but they are very few and far between…

Actually, they already stated: because its a useful feature and they wanted players to have the freedom of adding an AA and not being stuck with sprint.

I am fairly certain it was Kevin Franklin that said it was so prodominatly used over other abilities… so to encourage the use of other AAs… decfualt sprint was the result.

thus basing maps all around havin to use sprint to get across them and makes not using sprint terrible even though sprint itself is terrible

Instead of making more original, balanced, and fun abilities they force sprint into the game with no way of turning it off…

I dont know about you guys, but i like sprint the way it is. It does wonders for me.

just another thing for people to complain about.

this halo is different from the last! change it back! change bad!

the maps are certainly not designed around sprint, stop playing big team if that’s your issue, i don’t think haven, abandon or adrift absolutely require it, and the over use of it on those maps is likely to get you killed around corners.

Not saying I agree with it. I am just happy to have friends that made “no sprint” game types. They play really well on small maps with 110-120% movement speed. Very well. No sprint just freaking rocks. None of this “chase me” nonesense.

Because with sprint, it reall gives an unfair advantage to the person running away. If someone sprints past a corner and you sprint after them, the can stop sprininting, turn around and look… the guy who is chasing has his gun down because he chased after… The running just gained an advantage for free.

I would prefer Sprint as an A.A. again too. It made you choose between mobility or function. You wanted to get over there fast? Use sprint. Wanna be sneaky? Camo. Wanna be a jerk? Armor Lock.

But now you just sprint for a power weapon, go invisible, and lurk in corners to try and get easy kills.

Well then, mystery solved, question answered… thanks!!

Now you sprint to run away, hide, and get random weapons. Or run around a corner. turn around and use a bolt shot.
I hate sprint for everyone.

People speculated that Chief could sprint in Halo 3 before it came out because of that Starry Night trailer. So really it was only a matter of time before it became a permanent addition. I’m okay with it personally.

Play halo 3, then you will appreciate sprint…

I kind of don’t mind sprint in Halo, but with that said, the maps need to be adjusted accordingly and instant respawns need to be taken out.

It’s to make players who play other sprint inclusive franchises feel comfortable and another feature because more features = better game apparently.

I have not seen on example of sprint making a game better, it slows down gameplay and just results in a more tedious experience.

Random ordinance is the shining example that 343i really don’t care about balanced or competitive gameplay.

Sprint speeds up gameplay. Also, it just makes sense. You’re telling me a Spartan can’t run because he has a jetpack on?

It shouldn’t even be in the game period. We moved pretty quick in all previous Halo before AAs and were still able to fire. Being able to runaway from a fight is dumb.

your telling me that a spartan cant shoot while running?

sprint is NOT NEEDED if you have a fast enough movement speed in the first place.

not being able to shoot while moving slighly faster is stupid. by that logic, you shouldnt be able to shoot while using the jetpack. (would be great)
