Why is Spartan Ops so hard?

What the heck 343?! Why did you have to make Spartan Ops so difficult? Most of the Elites and Grunts have Fuel Rods which makes Spartan Ops a living hell on Legendary.
Reduce the difficulty and set Spartan Ops back to Heroic. You have lost alot of players for Spartan Ops. If you want more players for Spartan Ops, I suggest you do it.

When Part 1 was released it was on Heroic, but fans asked for it to be harder, so 343 upped it to Legendary, and that is were it has stayed.

Legendary is tricky if your solo, but in a group of 4 its not too bad.

Besides, I think more people will complain about the EXP drop if they turned the difficulty down a notch.

Hard is not the right word.

It’s actually “improperly adjusted”. Gross negligence of Solo scaling!

I admit the Elites having fuel rod guns is just wrong (unless they’re treated as bosses, but even then that is lame). But if you think the fuel rod Grunts are terrifying in this game, play H2. Those Grunts don’t even have to hit you. The hitboxes are huge and splash damage immense. And when you use it, there are terrible repercussions (akin to Incineration Cannon) if you’re not careful. Also, check out CE Grunts and their blasted deadman’s switch!

I think they’ve lost players because they limit the playlist to a single episode + Spartan Ops Season 1 is finished + no incentive (like their recent change which has made challenges a ridiculous time waster). Lowering it to Heroic would actually make it worse.

Play solo sometime. EXP does not increase with difficulty.

When Part 1 was airing, I would get 7-8000, when Part 2 started, I was getting 9000+, and that was before I started using Fast Track.

I might be wrong, but I can’t explain it any other way.

I’m sure EXP did affect when it first came out. Solo isn’t affected.

Sure it is difficult Solo but isn’t that what makes Halo a challange? I’d rather have it being difficult then it being a walk in the park.

I also find SpartanOps to be another campaign so playing through it on legendary with or without friends is another experience.

For online 4 player I’m very glad its legendary, otherwise there’d be no chance of me completing them on legendary, and its easy with 4.

Done the first two episodes solo legendary and it wasn’t a lot of fun tbh. Very much a grind.

I think it’s awesome the way it is. It gives you more incentive to seek out someone to play it with.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with things being difficult. The trouble is that bumping a lot of Elites up to Warrior class and giving them Fuel Rod Guns isn’t the answer. It’s a cheap way of making things challenging, similar to the Jackal Snipers in Halo 2.

Yeah, but all of the Fuel Rods taught me how to use the thruster pack. I miss the one hit melee kill elites from Reach. It was such an emotion reward to be able to assassinate one after the other when you knew how big of a risk it was to even try for one.

I enjoy Legendary Spartan Ops because that is the only difficulty I’ve played since I’ve started Halo ( with the exception of a few Spartan Ops levels). I like the uneven odds that were ment to be challenged by 4 people. Each time I die fewer and fewer times, normally once or twice now on the more difficult levels. However, it does feel cheap to make it difficult by giving everything a heavy weapon like the Fuel Rod gun though.

The fact that you always re-spawn makes it easier.
If it was like in Campaign, where you killed half of those -Yoinks!-, but then a checkpoint never comes, and then you die, having to kill them all over again, that’d be HARD.

Oh yeah, especially in those parts with infinity respawning enemies.

I’m doing it solo now, on the mission where you have to defend the two small uplinks from every xenos under the freaken sun.

I swear it works like this

All the incompetent Minor Elites are in the CGI cutscenes
All of the Fuel Rod Cannon trigger happy Warrior Elites are in the missions.

It’s not too hard.

If you want to play Legendary then expect it to be hard. Spartan ops is meant to be for co-op and is a piece of piss on Legendary with more players. You also don’t start from a checkpoint, you continue as you go, so if you keep ploughing on, you’ll eventually beat the level.

It’s called Legendary for a reason, you don’t get any extra for it so why don’t you play it on easy until you got a group of 2 or 4 to do it on Legendary.

Thanks
Darknal

Most of the missions are just a grind.

But this ridiculous ‘one-difficulty-fits-all’ approach has got to go: we need skill matching in Spartan Ops.

lol they don’t put those elites in the cutscenes because even the cutscene would ragequit

I am grinding away at “switchback” just to kill crawler snipers as I want Forerunner 100%
At this rate I will have to do this episode (well the 1st 2 mins of it) another 500 times…
So don’t even get me started on SpartanOps!

It’s not hard/difficult, it’s freaking frustrating.

Heroic is easy with 4 players on SpOps and the only way to make it fun was to “up the difficulty”, but today’s game developer’s inability to actually make AI worth using, they’re instead increasing projectile velocity and damage as well as increasing shields and health along with making you weaker in all areas.

This is making it more “difficult”, as in making it more annoying and frustrating.

Really op? If your struggling lower the difficulty. I normally play solo on legendary and fail to see any problem. I personally love the challenge of loads of angry, fuel rod wielding elites. The campaign is a hell of a lot more frustrating than spartan ops!
