Why is slayer in team arena playlist? I’ve been playing Halo 5 pretty much from the start and I’m surprised that slayer is still in that playlist! Arena is supposed to be centered around objective game types and yet theirs only three game types and one of them has its own playlist. Why not put oddball in their? Why not castle wars? Why not some of the games from action sack? I play arena because I want to play an objective tactical game type not slayer, if I want to play slayer I’ll play one of the MANY slayer game types. Halo 5 has a super creative community who create fun game types and maps delay yet team arena seems to be the least updated playlist and the most forgotten by the devs. I don’t know of anyone who actually likes slayer being in arena. Does 343 have a reason?
I’d like it if KotH, Assault, and Oddball were also in team arena, but I’m fine with slayer being in it. It’s a variety of gametypes and I like to play slayer and objective gametypes without having to switch playlists.
Arena was previously the competitive playlist… competitive rotation. Competitive play includes Slayer…
Now that we have HCS settings… Arena could essentially turn into Team Objective, which Slayer COULD be removed from, but if they chose to uphold Team Arena, Slayer fits that identity. Could it be reduced in likelihood? Absolutely, and at the very least, I think it should… but then we would only have 2 other competitive modes to play. Baffles me that we still have so few Arena gametypes… they COULD add Assault… And when fans complained about the lack of Oddball and KOTH at launch, 343 COULD have altered some upcoming map designs to effectively support additional competitive modes, but now we’re stuck with a game built around 3 game modes.
The issue runs deeper than simply adding game modes, and altering game mode/map ratios… much deeper.
And Castle Wars, etc., in Team Arena? I’m sorry but that absolutely would not fly with competitive and/or traditional Halo players… Ranked playlists are meant to support CORE Halo settings and gametypes. Social to a degree even, as well, but Action Sack game modes need to remain Action Sack modes.
Especially now that we have the HCS list, but really always since there has been a separate Slayer list, please remove Slayer from Team Arena and add Assault and Oddball.
if you have a Slayer jones, you have two other options.
They also have it in Skirmish. It makes no sense. You can’t escape Slayer. If you want to play objective-based games only, there’s no place to go.

Well put. Bravo. 100% agree!

Castle wars might be an extreme example but honestly I halo could use some things to shake it up, I’ve been playing multiplayer since halo 2 all the way through and I think throwing a monkey wrench into the gears every now and again is a good thing. The idea that it can’t be done because of ‘competitive or traditional’ players should be the ridiculous thought, Halo 5 is probably the most traditional game we’ve had since 3 and people still whine about it. Is it perfect, no. is it fun yes. 343 seems to have struggled with innovation since the launch. Wouldn’t hurt to try and switch up some of the core to team arena and base them more around objective types. Especially since at this point lets all be honest Halo 5 isnt moving many copies the players playing now are here to stay

Agreed besides it’s called team arena not team objective
I vote to take slayer out of Arena as well. Make it all objective and add oddball, koth, and assault to the playlist. I’d play nothing else if these changes were made. Also, add one flag.
Slayer is the hardest objective playlists halo 5 has you don’t understand the objective in it though its simple your teammates and you need to get 50 kills before you and your teammates get 50 deaths I’m not trying to be a jerk defame or anything like that slayer is a the hardest objective playlists and that’s why slaying in all objective game types is as important the objective
yea make arean obj, slayer comes up to often. the dlc maps no one seems to like could go hard with odd ball and koth, get some more veriety in to arean
I wish at the very least the would create a separate playlist that was completely objective based without slayer, hopefully then everyone would be satisfied, those who only want to play a competitive objective type (oddball, flag, KOTh, etc.) could do that and those that want to keep the arena playlist as is could have that.
