Why is six a spartan-III because they hand picked the best humans for the spartan-II program and six is one of the best spartan-III and has the rank hyper leathel so why wouldn’t they chose him to become a spartan-II?
I guess he just wasn’t “Lucky” enough.
because during the spartan 2 program he didn’t exist he was recruited at six in the war LONG after the s-II program was complete
They handpicked 75 children for SPARTAN-II.
Six was picked as an adult for enhancement.

The Spartan IIs weren’t hand picked because they were the best, they were all kidnapped as children because they possessed the required genetics that enabled the augmentations they had to undergo. They were trained to be nothing but soldiers from an early age, so they don’t know anything but being a soldier.
The Spartan IIIs were made up of orphans from human colonies or soldiers who volunteered to be part of the program. They didn’t go through as many of the augmentations as the Spartan IIs did. This made them cheaper and quicker to produce and train in larger numbers to help fight against the Covenant, rather than have to wait for them to grow older. Noble 6 was a soldier before having augmentations to be a Spartan, hence why he is a Spartan III.

Also, the Spartan III program also consisted of children
Poor innocent children

the spartan 3s were volentary from glassed planets orphans that had a choice
He couldn’t have been a Spartan II. He wasn’t even born when the spartan II project was started. The S-II’s were children who were picked by the project and trained and augmented. The S-III’s were kids who were orphaned by the war and they were trained to go on suicide missions for the UNSC. Some of the S-III’s were re-assigned so they weren’t killed on the suicide missions. Noble team is an example.
out of all the children kidnapped for the s-II program only 6 survived the augmentation and training, after running covert ops against the covenant only one remained when the s-III program initiated John-117
what about kelly and fred

That brings up something I have wondered about the Spartan-II’s. After they won the war, and the threat had passed, what were they planning on doing with the Spartan-II’s had they all survived. I guess maybe they would stay soldiers, and just be part of a standing military, but what if they got to old for duty. Were they just cast into society, or put into crio sleep untill a knew threat emerged? I mean they had no childhood, and none of them were to social excepting Kurt and Samuel. I am not even sure if they would have been able to handle society.

That I don’t think is true, because I remember them mentioning that two of Johns team mates from Blue team were on Infinity at some point. That and I really don’t think it was JUST 6, I belive there were more they just all went MIA.

There was about 30 or so spartans that survived the augmentation and training. Also, John 117 isn’t the last spartan II. There’s Fred, Kelly, Linda, Grey Team, Black team ( Until 343 recently killed them off) and probably a few others.

A lot more than six made it past augmentation.
And there are several active Spartan IIs.

In the novels, like 35 spartans make it through augmentation.

Yes that is true, but only 6 remained after a few months or so, and that was chiefs team, kelly and fred were apart of that, around the time reach happened, shortly thereafter, all but the chief were dead, its in the novels, read them, im not the most knowledgeable, but bungie based the entire series off of the novels, the ones they did anyways, 343 is just running away with it on a whole new level, the first book was published about a year before CE was released, just saying. Halo: Contact Harvest
The Spartan II and Spartan III projects were pretty far apart time wise.
Also, the children in the Spartan II project were selected because of the very specific genes they possessed that made them compatible with the augmentations they wanted to do making their survival more likely. The Spartan III project, however, was mainly comprised of orphans who had pent up anger due to their families being killed in the Human/Covenant war didn’t need to have so many specific genes because of improvements and changes made to the augmentations, because of the anger issues these children had the augmentations they were given allowed them to go into a sort of primal rage when they were injured too much.
