Specifically, burst-fire hitscan, with no spread. What the BR should have been.
No randomness, and a higher skill gap than a single shot weapon.
Hitting all three shots in a burst and being able to keep the crosshairs on an enemy for an extended period of time (leading shots) easily requires more skill than shooting an enemy once, and doing roughly the same amount of damage.
While hitting that last headshot with a BR is easier than with a DMR, first you need to be able to hit two or three perfect bursts which will allow you to get a kill within a reasonable time-frame.
It’s more competitive, similar to the Magnum for CE since that too was single shot. Player preference too but thats why many prefer the DMR. Much more accurate than the Halo 3 BR.
Though the BR IMO was much more enjoyable to use, since i found the gun to just “fit” Master Chief perfectly.
Single shot is better only b/c it is more precise. A burst-fire weapon fires 3 rounds randomly (albeit inside the crosshair) making it less accurate at longer ranges than a single shot which goes right in the center out your crosshair every time (unless their is bloom).
Although, a burst-fire weapon is better at closer ranges since that higher spread of bullets will all hit their target easier.

Without spread, the bullets will fire exactly in the center of the crosshairs. They don’t have to fire randomly.
Halo 2 post-TU is a good example of this.

A burst-fire weapon w/o spread isn’t really a burst-fire weapon, it’s more like a triple-shot which is no different than a single-shot except for the fact that it shoots 3 bullets precisely instead of 1 (and is unrealistic). A burst-fire weapon shoots 3 bullets, one after the other, causing the barrel to heat up and make your shots a little more random (thus resulting in spread).
i like the feel of burst-fire better, but testers are saying the dmr is better than the br right now.
I like that a hit is a hit with a single shot weapon. The idea that I have to maintain my aim after a trigger pull would create some confusing issues. Aim-pull-aim-pull etc…

Especially during poor-networking conditions. Hits won’t register due to the slightest but of lag, and makes the difference between a kill and death.

KC preferred the DMR over BR. Both guns are solid and accurate.
We won’t know the tru7th until release date
Though 5SK BR has people worried.
