Why is pre ordering halo 5 bad?

What makes you think that pre ordering Halo 5 is bad? I understand your concern for it having a similar launch as MCC because we all share that concern. However, there is no evidence whatsoever, that studios release broken games when there are higher pre orders. I’ll give you an example: one week before launch of the MCC, it had over 346,000 preorders. Halo 4 on the other hand, had over 1,823,000 preorders. Yet, Halo 4 was not broken at launch, even with more preorders. MCC on the other hand, was completely broken at launch, with much less pre orders. So, according to the scientific method, the idea that more preorders pushes developers to launch broken games, makes no sense. The evidence does not support it at all. MCC was simply bad development. It had nothing to do with pre orders.

It’s not bad. People want to pretend that developers are getting lazy, BUT anybody who watched all 6 episodes of the Sprint (ViDocs that show the development process of Halo 5), they would know just how hard 343i is working but OH NO, “If 343i isn’t catering to my nostalgia, Halo 5 the AAA Xbox One exclusive with top-notch animations, music, story, BALANCE, etc, is no longer good.”

Halo MCC was a whole different scenario as well. Four games packed into one. Its not an excuse, 343 done goofed, but I can see why it happened. Halo 5 on the other hand is a whole new game running on one engine. Im confident that 343 have learned from their mistakes, and they are getting my preorder

Well I know it’s not bad, I just want to know why some of the community thinks it’s bad.

Well, pre-ordering any game this day in age is just kinda dumb. Especially for a AAA release like Halo 5, you know stores aren’t going to run out of copies. It’s also the principle of the matter though: you’ve guaranteed them payment for a product that you don’t even know will be of high enough quality to justify the purchase. It’s like kickstarter for people who really didn’t need the money.

I detest pre-ordering digital copies, because then you are entirely screwed if you aren’t pleased.

It is not bad to pre-order Halo 5.

Preordering entices you to buy a game for an item that should already be in the game.

To be fair, in most cases you’ve only guaranteed them 5 bucks, and even that is not legally guaranteed. You’re not legally required to pay them the rest of the money if you decide you don’t want to get the game. when you go to pick up the game you can decide to not get it and they will give you your 5 bucks back. I agree that pre-ordering in order to ensure you get a copy is a thing of the past, but that doesn’t mean that pre-ordering GUARANTEES them anything.

It’s not. You can do what you’d like with your money, don’t let others say otherwise.

Money does not go to them until the game ships and a plus is that you can cancel it at any time if you have changed your mind. And I pre-order online only because I do not want to worry about having to go pick up the copy at the nearest store and wait in line, then I can just play it the second it arrives at my doorstep. (No car since I’m not getting one until after high-school, since I have to pay for the entire thing myself as I would rather focus entirely on school and not have to worry about a job along with homework as well as grades. :P)

I think people have just hopped onto the Bdobbins bandwagon

Ooooh yeah they have, I facepalmed whenever the guy tried to prove himself right with his “facts”.

The question shouldn’t be “why is it bad” it should be “why is it good”.

Pre-ordering means you’re paying for something you have no idea how it’s going to turn out. I’s like going to a restaurant and paying BEFORE your meal. And there’s a chance you’re not getting what was displayed and promised on the menu.

But that’s a possibility.

And since there are so many reviewers now, so many sources to get information from about the game on it’s release it’s safer to wait a week or two before buying any game. You shouldn’t waste money on a faulty product.

The only possitives that I personally find in pre-ordering special deal like the armor or stuff like that.

Pre-order is alot more unsafe than buying after it’s release because there’s a high chance the store you buy it from don’t take refunds in case you’re not satisfied with the product.
But I’m not saying that you shouldn’t, I’m just saying that not pre-ordering is the safer bet.

And don’t come with the “Oh but I loved the beta!” argument. Things have been changed since that beta and you don’t even know how it’ll release. It might even have the same type of release that BF4 or MCC had, you never know until it happens.

Well. The last game they released didn’t work. So blindly preording their next game kind of reinforces the decision they made to launch a broken game.

I pre-order (online at least) so I wont have to worry about walking to the store and I can just wait for it to be delivered to my doorstep and play it immediately when It gets delivered. This is really the only reason I do pre-order.

Logic says that they will test the absolute F*** out of Halo 5.

We the community already tested it with the beta.

You’re ignoring my other statement, about not pre-ordering it.
You can still buy the game online after it’s release and have it delivered to you, you can even buy it on digital download if so.

You have three days to pick up the game and if you don’t you get a refund. All in all there is nothing wrong with pre ordering and plus you might get some bonuses. You don’t have to get it on the first day if you pre order. Personally I wait to see what all the special pre order deals are. Then I choose to pre order from the store that I feel has the best deal.
