I’ve actually spent YEARS trying to do this. Get 15 players to join me. I host a ton of content and it’s an absolute challenge to get anyone onboard. It used to be much harder back in the day when Custom Broswer used to not exist. I used to just invite everyone from Warzone after a match just to play customs. Still do time to time.
But I just don’t get it. The only maps usually ever featured in the Custom Browser is Vanity Tower and I’m really not a big fan of that map. Another frequent thing that pops are clan recruitments. Seriously?
I’m sick and tired of spending hours upon hours just hoping for an audience when all I want is 16 player matches. Is it really that hard? I host a ton of stuff. And no one usually clicks on it unless it’s clickbait or copycat maps. I wonna go to bed man, it’s like 00:40. Why has it taken me nearly two hours to host customs and still find no one to join me? 1 random person isn’t good enough to play on a map designed for 16 players fighting through trenches or CTF etc. I’ve spent YEARS trying to attract players. I’m not hosting that regular symmetrical stuff everyone’s used to, no I host way more unique stuff than that. If I wanted to play symmetrical slayer maps I’d play Arena.
What can I do differently to attract more players?
Oh and one more thing; when I do have an audience, Halo 5 is the buggiest disaster ever. My menu screen freezes EVERY time someone quits, or usually when the match is over. I CONSTANTLY have to reboot the game, even when I’m not playing customs. It’s just so stressful and time consuming!

“Looking for group.” This should help you out. Good luck getting players to join I really hope you find some. It’s rare to come by players who make some genuinely good maps and games in customs amidst all the garbage, so I’m rooting for you!
What I’d recommend is to increase the player cap gradually, building up to 16. I think if you set it to 16 immediately, it puts your match at the end of the Custom Browser list.
For gamemodes, any kind of FFA mode on Classic maps worked well for me (FFA Magnums, FFA Snipers, etc).
Mongoose racing was also extremely popular
I’d also start your custom game at a time when the population is likely to be high.
Well, I understand what you mean. I host socials with various results. Sometimes no one joins, sometime you get idiotic people. But you got to keep hosting your games, even when it seems pointless at times.
Normally custom games have to be related to the current interest in peoples fun gametypes normally get you some peeps but not all the time, really depenhds what game type your playing
I understand the pain. The custom games browser is a lost cause when it’s being plagued by role playing apartment hubs and 8 billion Assassination Towers. As multiple people have said, try to use the looking for group feature. You could also try making a post in the Halo Club on the dashboard, and see if anybody replies to it.
