It was released that halo 5 forge on both pc and Xbox one will have a custom game browser, and there has been almost no attention brought to it from the community.
343 just announced that their multiplayer will in effect have a limitless amount of gamemodes and maps to matchmake with other players.
Upset because there is no team snipers? Host a custom lobby and match with the plethora of other players who want to play snipers.
Want it a more classic feeling halo? Join a lobby playing evolved settings.
Missing race modes? Great someone else was too and guess what there’s multiple race lobbies running.
By far the biggest complaint about halo 5 has been content and the lack there of. 343 just announced a feature which brings unlimited content to halo.
And very few are even acknowledging this.
Guys, this changes everything. It’s the biggest thing that’s happened to halo in years. Can we at least talk about it?
EDIT : A custom game browser is not a file share. Please make sure you are clear on that before saying it should have been included at launch. No console halo has ever had a custom game browser included, let alone at launch. This is brand new to console halo, and it’s been wanted for a very long time.
EDIT AGAIN- the custom browser is not coming this update. It’s just been confirmed that it is indeed coming. This dlc features a fileshare. Not what I’m refering too.
I have seen several other threads discussing this feature, but to paraphrase bender, nobody notices when you have done something right. Once the feature draws closer to launch it will probably get more hype.

Oh. I have only come across 2. And they both died out after a couple comments.
Do players just not realize how big of a deal this is? This is the biggest announcement post launch that brings an unlimited amount of possibilities to halo match making.

I play custom games with my Spartan company all the time. It’s where we have the most fun. There are players. Many players, who play this game for the enjoyment of it. Most of us who have played regularily since launch have everything unlocked and havnt cared about Reqs in a long time.
Halo custom games have been a time honoured tradition. The love of custom games far outweighs the desire to earn digital currency.

Yeah a feature like this thrives with a good amount of community support but this has so much going against it it won’t be great like it should be
For one what you mentioned
Second, No req points/Achilles progress/ranks which is literally everything this now lame Halo community cares about it feels like…
Third its declining population its the 13th 14th most played game on Xbox one with games like Titanfall, IW, CoD 4 Remastered and Battlefield 1 releasing so Halo 5 will be a game no one cares about soon
Had this been here from the jump it wouldve been a breakout success but Im willing to bet it’ll be as popular as DooM 2016s Snapmap community game browser

A custom game browser is something the community has been waiting for a very long time. No console halo game has ever had one. To say it should have been included at launch is silly.
Although had forge had a custom game browser been included at launch this would be a much different atmosphere around halo. It really is that big of a deal.

itss not silly they had 3 f**king years to work on this game and one year into its life and it is still VERY SHORT ON CONTENT they focused all their efforts on ways to make money on halo 5 through microtransactions and not making the game good and i doubt its even going to be better then halo 3s file share.
All the good new stuff is great, but nobody likes microtransactions, especially when they start doing stuff like this. For the entire first year of Halo, the focus has been Reqs. It still is. Everything else is a second thought.

Thats what we are getting.
It would have been better at launch. I will admit that. But we finaly have a console halo game that will have a custom game browser. I remember talking about this during halo 2. This is how long it’s been in the making.
Just so I’m clear on the concept here, there will be a variety of lobbies with different gametypes I can hop in and play vice being invited? Like one person has a team snipers game and another has action sack, and I can just join?
Can’t wait for the customs browser. I’ll definitely be hosting some games. I’ve been wanting to have enough people in a lobby to do Classic BTB on Valhalla, and I can finally do that when this comes.
343i has lost a lot of people’s trust, and there are many things that they’ve done wrong, even by non-Halo standards. This, however, is one thing they’ll have done right, among the other things, and is something we should thank them for.
We still don’t have a lot of things that we want, but we have been given things we enjoy, whether we wanted them or not. I welcome this addition, and I hope it is also present in Halo 6. May the future of Halo (and its community, for that matter) be brighter than it seems now.
I completely agree with you OP. When I heard about this I recalled fond memories of playing custom games in H2/H3 on Xbox and even playing games on H1 PC. This makes Halo 5 have infinite possibilities as the OP said. Plus this is where the community really thrives and I’m excited to hear about it. I sure hope it comes out relatively soon (October perhaps? before the 1 year of Halo 5’s release?). I certainly can’t wait.
