My internet is pretty good I have 75 download and 50 upload, obv its not the best internet but its good. It shouldn’t be taking this long to download a 50GB download (Halo 5)
IN 45 mins it only went up 4% and it has been stuck at 49% for atleast 20 mins… I’m not going to be able to play at midnight now… smh…
been downloading for atleast 5 hours now…
help plz
almost if not everyone else is having the same problem
Change your DNS settings to
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
Clear your Mac address. Xbox will restart and you’ll download faster.
This is the DNS that Google uses
because everyone is hammering the servers right now lol It’s most likely not your end at all. Just relax, you’ll get it soon. You’ve waited this long, what’s a other few hours
Mine took 5 hours as well
I loved it a ton!
Has it worked for you??
If not, try @I am Radish’s suggestion.
Google uses their own Fibre Optic Connection (“1000 up & 1000 down”). Their DNS is so powerful that you can’t even imagine… try that way
I really wanted to play at midnight with my friends, but it looks like it’s not going to happen. only at 50% after hours.
im on 30% after less then 20
mins

I change my DNS on xbox then it makes it download really fast?
Took like 5 hours for me, it takes a long time to download, you’ll make it though
Probably lots of other people downloading at the same time. Took me about 3 hours this morning.

75mb per sec? That’s pretty fast. Lol it took my two days to download the game with my 3mb per second satellite internet connection. Too check and see if your getting optimal download speeds, go to settings, network tab, bandwidth usage. On the bandwidth usage page you should see how fast your internet is, and will be able to estimate your download time (Halo 5 is a 56.8 GB download).
dont change to those DNS Settings listed i went from 153mb to 13mb not faster by a long shot
Dont change DNS. All a DNS server does is resolve a “www.websitename.com” to an IP address. When your connection hits the IP Address, which is owned by Microsoft (or akamai), it’ll likely just be a load balancer that hooks you up with a server in your region. There’s really too many other factors at play to think a simple DNS change will change the trajectory of your traffic.
That being said, my speed sucks too. I have a 60mbps connection and im currently around 300kbps…i could’ve just gone to gamestop in an hour and picked up the physical copy.
Oh well.
I’m 35% after a solid 10 hours, this is pathetic. By this rate it will be another day before I can play the game I just bought.
If it’s the servers, Microsoft should had anticipated this and increase server resources to allow for the increase load of their systems. They have enough money that it shouldn’t had been an issue.
I started dowloading it at 910 last night and it went prety fast in an hour 87 then fell asleep woke up at 520 it was at 93 so i unstalled it and dowllnloaded it and choose download updat later and game was installed in a hour then started the update and the update now is complete i have disc version and i got ok internet
Yeps. Mine was pretty slow last night that it took 6 hours to download. Guess that is what I get for not downloading in advance.
It’s because there’s so many people hammering the servers right now trying to do the same thing you’re doing. Should’ve bought the disc. It’ll install in less than 2 hours. And if you bought it digitally, why didn’t you pre-load it?

So yesterday Halo 5 launched. I bought the digital standard edition at approximately 1:30 pm in the afternoon. I was at 90% by 11:30 pm that night. I had to be at work at 5 a.m. the next morning so I had no choice but to say -Yoink- it and go to bed. I did not get to play Halo 5 on launch day because of the slow download speeds. That really really sucks. I hope i didn’t miss out on any DAY 1 achievement or anything. Hopefully when i get out of work today the download will have finished and I will actually get to play the game that i have been waiting years to play.

The disc version for me downloaded in about half an hour without any problem.
