Why is Multiplayer just a Halo: Reach Map Pack?

I seems kind of lazy that they would just issue a map pack for Halo: Reach, in my opinion. It doesn’t feel like the classic Halo Multiplayer at all. Halo 1 didn’t have jetpacks, etc. Thoughts?

Most people knew what the deal was since it was first revealed at E3. 343 have said since the very start it was using the Reach engine as it would be too time consuming to build a new netcode for CEA.

Also I fail too see how it is lazy. The game has an awesome new graphics layer, when they could have just upped the res to HD and left at that. They even took the time to try rework Reach MM to a more CE like experience when they didn’t have to.

Let’s also not forget the seven maps that come with it for Reach, and all for a budget price.

a super laggy outdated multi-player game that takes focus away from a current title (that is being overseen by the same company) seems counter productive to me.

Halo:CE was always about the campaign/story anyways, the multi-player was just a cool bonus.

of course this is all just my opinion so.

The game is gorgeous, especially since it’s 10 years old, remastered, but still… I would have appreciated playing High Noon with the overpowered on Halo: CE, not Reach. That’s just me though.

They didn’t want to split the fanbase of reach, and why split it since Halo 4 is releasing next year anyway.

The Halo CE multiplayer wasn’t made for live, so there would be a lot of lag issues, or they would have to create a totally new netcode for it to work, but would take a lot of time and would probably go over the set date for the 10 years (anniversary) of halo.

Plus Halo CE multiplayer wasn’t meant to create a huge impact xD but it did lol.

Making only a nostalgic map pack and gametypes as close to the original was what they decided to do from the very beginning. Nothing is going to change that.

Because 343i wasnt going to waste time and resources developing a working netcode for halo CE’s multiplayer. It is pointless since Halo 4 is coming out next year and reach is more than qualified to bring some fun multiplayer aspects of CE.

If you dont like it then i guess your just going to have to put the game on the shelves and wait for halo 4 =)

i agree, a new multiplayer would have been nice. but then again they are probably putting all they’re efforts into halo 4 now  i cant wait

I feel content that I still have my old CE disc (A ‘game of the year’ box that I bought used in 2003… I sold my original copy just 6 months earlier and regretted it). So if I still feel like playing ye olde Halo I can just pop that in.

As for the map pack… I think these remakes are friggin sweet! I’ve been having so much fun with the remakes of ‘Hang em’ High’ and ‘Timberland’ especially.

Its not just a reach map pack. Its a customised complete subset of the reach multiplayer system included on the disc, along with a selection of “best of” maps from the olden days. 343i has never lead anyone to believe otherwise.

IMO its a good value package in the same vein as the ODST release with the complete H3 multiplayer, except this time they didnt charge full-release price. Whats not to like?

yeah 343i said this since the announcement at e3 lol. Alot of ppl ask the same stuff over and over.

Corporate Answer: “We didn’t want to split the Reach population.”

Honest Answer: Halo 1 multiplayer was -Yoink-. Unlike the campaign, it didn’t deserve to be remade in it’s entirety.
