in the halo 5 trailer when the master chief looking at the giant metal forerunner and blow the sand away and blow his cloak hood off and look up at him and it show that his visor is cracked. is 343 industries hinting us that we will see master chiefs face later in the game? i think not…
343 hasn’t revealed any story details. We don’t know why his visor was cracked.
Perhaps he is recovering from a battle, or maybe it’s to symbolize how recent events have “broken” him. At this point, all we can do is speculate.

okay, aside from the fact that Frankie said “He is deliberately masking his appearance” to justify the cloak, we need to understand that it is a TEASER TRAILER!!! Meaning that you are not supposed to take everything you see there too literally. Teaser=symbolic.
Therefore, the cloak: symbolises isolation, loneliness, maybe chief has gone rogue, and he is all alone? The cracked visor: Chief is emotionally broken, maybe we will get to see the psychological effect that Cortana’s absence will have on him. The empty AI chip: see previous point. Maybe chief is looking for a way to recover her…whether he succeeds or not is a different thing all together. And of course the big forerunner machine could indicate that the forerunners are still the enemy in the next game. Maybe the fact that it blows off his hood indicates that there could be an alliance between him and the machine OR on a subtle perspective, that there is still hope for him, and he is not as alone as he thought. You need to learn how to analyse. It is very important for teasers that have alot of indirect messages hidden in them.
Bottom line is, his visor may not be really cracked at all. It may be just an allusion to something else. Of course this is just a theory so i could be wrong, and his visor may be cracked indeed BUT don’t take it too serious. It is a teaser, therefore, it is not meant to be serious.

You can piece a few things together and work out some things here and there, but for the most part, no, no one knows.
the chief dropped his helmet on his way to get morning coffee. Thats what I think(Seriously though, I don’t know why its cracked but we will probably find out why).
Some say its symbolic and means hes broken without Cortana or finally breaking his machine of a mental state and realizing his Humanity. Or he simply got it damaged in battle.
