WHY IS LOCKE HUNTING MC IN HALO 2 ANNIVERSARY?

this topic has been posted before but it was not answered.

That cutscene was used for marketing H5. He is still hunting Master Chief as the Chief has “gone rogue.” We were not given much more information than that. The cutscene is not canon and a lot of H5’s marketing was misleading.

I though that this topic has an awesome lore behind, but no, just marketing :c

I was under the impression that the cut scene happens just before the start of the mission Battle of Sunaion.

I also had this feeling, especially in the dialogue in halo 5.

It is basically taking place in the same timeframe as the Mission 9 opening cutscene, but in a non-canon sense and used to advertise MCC. He is hunting MCC at this point in the campaign on Sanghelios, which is why they discuss it like that in the trailer. I have a timestamped link below for reference.

He is not.

It was just a marketing thing for halo 5.

It was just a teaser for H5 it has nothing to do with the story.

interesting. how do we know its not cannon? did 343 say so?

but as far as arbiter talking about the seeds of his past, obviously his talking about the geas implanted to MC 100Thousand years ago by the librarian, how does he know though?. But it isnt at all talked about in halo 5, it upsets me that this is some type of marketing ploy, it would have nicely tied up some things about MC geas and the terminals with guilty spark talking about this same thing.
i know its supposedly marketing but i feel like at one point it wasnt and they changed the story heaps. I mean seriously h4 just introduced us to the geas and the history of humans, it feels like they took h5 in a slightly different direction

It turns out good marketing can backfire if the actual product is not as advertised. This was a recurring issue with H5 story, everything from HtT to the cinematic trailers failed to deliver on their own hype.

I really hope they learned to keep Infinite more honest, although we have also been given remarkably less information about Infinites plot than we had for H5.
