They also gave all the plasma pistol’s utility to them so it’s good if you need to disable a vehicle, but yeah it’s pretty disappointing in campaign.
part of CE’s difficulty came from the sandbox itself and level design issues.
aside from the bosses… the actual combat is fair and ballanced, as difficulties SHOULD BE. it’s hard, but i don’t wanna punch my computer screen hard. the bosses on the other hand? spark be dead, but those are a real pain. especially the first one…
hate to say I told you so but I told you so.
I think the overall progression system (armor cores, weapon variants, etc.) is what makes it so easy, its going for a power fantasy, the devs do this intentionally to make you (the player) feel like a badass, but yeah its probably the 2nd easiest Campaign of the series.
Bandana skull, yeah? Is that really going to be allowed and still get the LASO achivement? Seems like that will make it much easier. Just always have a rocket launcher or skewer as the secondary weapon.
Bungie mastered Legendary with CE and then proceeded to do TERRIBLE with Halo 2.
Halo 3 you could get killed in your vehicle super easily on legendary.
ODST Legendary was pretty darn fair. 2nd to CE.
Reach was a bit too easy, without the broken melee system.

To make a balanced Legendary difficulty is probably extremely difficult as reducing player heath may also have other consequences like affecting the weapon balance. A reduction in player health could have the side effect of making large parts of the sandbox useless (mainly short/medium range weapons) as that would make strategies involving getting close to enemies less viable due to lover viability to survive these encounters.
Something which is interesting in regards to the game at its current state is that pretty much every is viable to use which is pretty much unseen in previous Halo titles.
Debatable. Reach was pretty up there as the Elite’s AI on Legendary were brutal.
Always dodge, always charge you when you are low on Shields, always flank.
I wouldn’t consider the Halo Reach AI to be particularly good and that the difficulty has instead been derived from other factors like powerful shields, high health, usually quite aggressive in terms of having a high interest to attack the player specifically, quick melee attacks and a weapon sandbox that is balanced in a such a way that pretty much every weapon with the exception of headshot weapons and the plasma pistol is useless.
it’s “all skulls on” but since there’s no scoring in Infinite just yet, I would imagine it also counts… But even with infinite ammo, Mythic and Thunderstorm is gonna increase the tankiness of enemies up to 11…
It only took me a couple weeks to solo laso halo 1,2,3,ODST, reach, and 4. It’s quite the challenge.
LASO is honestly a Meme difficulty… if you don’t abuse despawns and out of bounds you’re not gonna beat the levels, especially with the Iron Skull on… Halo 2 LASO is humanly impossible without massive glitch and exploit abuse…
I agree. That’s gore games are meant to be played. Graveling was brutal. But there’s an awesome prison skip. Kinda hard to pull off though.
The FOBS and being able to choose weapons and vehicles make legendary way easier.
I think this may vary from person to person, just as you said. I have not played the campaign yet but I wouldn’t be surprised if I will find it “easy”, so to speak. All the other Halos (except 2, for obvious reasons) are pretty much a cakewalk to me on Legendary. Also I found HW2 to be difficult at first, so I played it a couple of times on lower difficulties. And now I am breezing through Legendary, only have 4 missions to go.
Halo CE had it right for me. And H2 was terribly unbalanced. The others were definitely easier compared to CE. Especially ODST, which frankly is a joke. Do not get me wrong, I still enjoy ODST very much, its just that most of my deaths can easily be attributed to me trying to do some dumb things…
That’s why Reach is probably the second hardest legendary but still takes a backseat to CE in terms of balance. Reach AI are way too aggressive on Legendary and Long Night of Solace is probably one of the hardest levels in the franchise. Aside from less than a half dozen rocket flood, Combat Evolved Legendary is the most fair and balanced challenge you’ll face out of any Halo game.
I would view Halo Reach as one of the easier Halo games on Legendary with the only exception of the Sabre section in the MCC version of the game. In most of the scenarios, the enemies can either easily be skipped or there exist relatively good strategies to beat the sections (most commonly noob combo).
If I would rank the FPS Halo games from most difficult to easiest, then I would place Halo 2 and Halo 3 near the top while I would place Halo Reach and Halo 4 near the bottom of the list.
Halo 2 is basically a universal consensus but Halo 3 was a total cakewalk. Also what about ODST?
I wouldn’t directly say that Halo 3 is a cakewalk on Legendary as there do exist a fairly large number of enemies that can kill the player in 1 shot and the player has a relatively low amount of health. On the other hand, Halo 3 ODST us relatively difficult to rank mainly due to the game having the clear contrast between easy and difficult where some of the most difficult sections are seen at the end of the game in Coastal Highway while there do still exist many missions that are relatively easy. I would probably say that the game a bit more difficult than Halo Reach on Legendary mainly due to the mission Coastal Highway.
