But also its because people wanted the Katana as a seperate entity from the chest piece. Because some of us like the Katana but dont want to wear the discount Power Ranger Mjolnir armor.

Jut because its a seperate entity from the chest now doesn’t mean it has to be locked all of a sudden it should either 1 be Default Unlocked or 2 We keep the chest version as well as the one on its own and the chest version stays Unlocked

It will probably be unlocked when the season actually releases for proper and if not its probably a one point item. You’ll live.

I will live but katana was a legacy item it should at lest have the original chest piece and the backpack version should be a unlock
If I had to guess I’d say it’ll probably be either unlocked by default when Season 6 drops or the other possibility it may be added in The New Exchange Store’s Weekly rotation for either 1 or 2 Season Points.
Side note I too feel the Katana being Locked after being a free equip item since the beginning is like receiving a Spartan kick in the face lol

Because in season six became a part of it to the unlockable rewards
it got locked in the flight when 343 made changes following community feedback, however since removing content is generally a poor look, and locking its replacement after is even worse, it’s likely that the current community feedback might convince them to restore the katana chest, though the backslot katana may remain locked.
To a lesser extent, i despise that they removed the second machete from sword and board, since it kinda kills part of the reference.

They should have both the Katana chest and then the Katana on its own and then the same with the sword and board I think the sword and board with the 1 machete that can be re coloured should be Unlocked by beating Heroic on Halo 3 Campaign and the sword and board that cant be coloured with the 2 machete’s should be unlocked if you have beaten Halo 3 on Legendary
The original Katana chest piece was locked until you got all 1000 achievements in Halo 3, right? Perhaps it will be tied to a challenge of that nature in Season 6? They did say that no cosmetics previously available would be locked behind the new season point system, but at the same time having a separate Katana chest piece in addition to a separate backpack item would be very clunky.
At any rate, this is just the Flight client, not the final build. Maybe this will be all moot and the katana will be unlocked by default anyway.

Maybe English isn’t his first language, keep that sort of thing in mind.
I actually prefer it, I’m happy that we can now have it with any chest piece.
I don’t think it will be a seasonal unlock, I think it will probably be in the last tier of the season.
