I would like to know why this game type is not present.
First off I would like to approach this within the realm of thought that 343i had when creating War Games(multiplayer). From what I understand, and I may be misinformed, war games revolves around spartans fighting other spartans as a training exercise. Now the problem with this is that Flood is a present gametype and even though the Flood are currently not a clear and present danger there is a gametype that revolves around the scenario of “what if we had a small team of spartans that had to engage the flood?”
Well that is a plausable scenario that spartans have the opportunity to practice with. If that is the case then why are the spartans not able to practice and prepare for a situation where the Storm Covenant infiltrate the Infinity, or attack a science laboratory within UNSC controlled grounds? They could have a team of spartans fight another team of spartans disguised as Storm Covenant Elites, or possible promethean knights. The disguised spartans would also carry the traits of the enemy combatants they are mimicking such as active camoflage or promethean vision.
They can prepare in areas such as the possible outer breach points of the Infinity (areas with thin hull, light armor), and the vehicle bay, which can incorporate vehicle combat. Science bay, Medical bay, armory, and Engine Core for close quarters combat. They can fight within Promethean or Storm covenant controlled sectors of Requim.
There would be preset loadouts for each faction, tailored to their respective armament. Elites and Promethean Knights may have more shielding and spartans would have an edge in mobility. Just possible ideas, feel free to contribute.
I understand this would mean new resources would possibly have to be coded into the game, so why not release it as DLC?
I loved playing Invasion in Reach and although JIP is a hit or miss for some of you I feel as though it might help to create a better experience.
