I find it stupid that this kind of bonus is only for those who purchase the game online? I never bought game online because I prefer getting a physical copy to build up my game collection. I don’t care if the definitive edtion is a digital download because I already owned HW1, but we should still get access to it even if we pre-order HW2 from i.e. gamestops

This. I think the industry as a whole is trying to get away from physical copies. Your days of selling old games towards new ones at Gamestop are numbered

I’ve never return game before. The only place where I buy digital is on PC with Steam because well… It’s all digital. Anyway as I said I have the GOTY edition of HW1 so it wouldn’t be so bad even if I don’t have the new definitive edition (enhanced graphic) , but in general I think it’s bad practice for such thing. Both will be pre-ordering HW2, but only one will get access to exclusive content.
They are trying to push Digital downloads as it is cheaper to manufacture (no disks or case), and more money from the Sales goes towards Microsoft.
Anyways, Halo Wars DE looks to be just a port to Xbox One, don’t think you will be missing out on much of you don’t buy it.

It’s just a port with enhanced graphics and new achievements. But getting the ultimate edition isn’t so much about getting halo wars DE, it’s the $80 deal itself. You get two games and a season pass. Halo Wars 2 is normally $60 and let’s say halo Wars DE on it’s own cost $30-$40(just a guess), buying these individually whether on digital or physical is still around $90-$100 and don’t forget the season pass that comes with ultimate so let’s say we buy that individually as well, which costs another $30-$40 so now the total is around $120-$140. so theoretically if you bought everything individually at base price, it would cost $40-$60 more than just buying the ultimate edition where everything’s bundled together. That’s the appeal of the ultimate edition, it’s a good deal price wise.

It’s funny you mention this as I was just surfing gamestops/ebgames for Halo Wars 2 and you’re right, the Ultimate Edition includes the games, pre-order bonus, the Season pass and HW1 Definitive Edition. It’s 99.99$ CAD, but it has more value if we buy separately.

Yep, the pricing is one of the main reasons I’m getting ultimate edition, it’s just cheaper than buying everything individually.
Has 343 actually confirmed that you can only get Halo Wars: DE with the digital copy, and NOT with the physical copy? I think it’s basically confirmed that you need to buy the Ultimate Edition, but they never specified that it’s only the digital copy, to my knowledge. In fact, the listing for the game on Amazon says that you still get Halo Wars: DE with the Ultimate Edition of Halo Wars 2:
You can even look at the physical copy’s box, and if you zoom in on the picture, it says you get the season pass and Halo Wars: DE. I’m guessing the one drawback is that you won’t get to play Halo Wars: DE early and will have to wait until you actually get your copy of Halo Wars 2 in February, but it appears that you can indeed get a physical copy and get Halo Wars: DE if you’re willing to wait.
It’s the same price as the digital version as well.

It’s also easiser to distribute without people abusing the system and canceling pre orders through companies that don’t care.

The entire point of ultimate edition is to get Halo wars 1 and 2. If physical copies don’t receive halo wars 1(I don’t see why that would happen) it could potentially hurt the overall sales of the game because some would return it due to the lack of Halo Wars DE. the only drawback like you said is you don’t get to play it early.

You still get Halo Wars DE, you just get it a lot later than Digital.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU!!! I NEVER buy the more expensive editions of games, but I’m more than willing to spend extra cash if it gets me a WHOLE other game!!! Same reason I’m gonna buy the Legacy Edition of Infinite Warfare when I finally buy it!!!
I was gona wait and get the physical copy of the ultimate edition, as far as i know if you get the ultimate edition digital preorder you can download halo wars definitive edition early and play it early as well.
