I get it. Every game now has a 10 year model (boring) and just wants to get as many people to constantly sign in and grind away (destiny, division, etc). This is driven by financials. Halo has always been its own thing. Just be Halo. They are attempting this open world nonsense which doesn’t recreate what Halo 1 was but that’s what they think it was. Halo 1 was organic. Halo Infinite (based on the demo) is do some battles here… then go over here and do some battles. Get reward. Go here for more battles. Get reward. That’s not even remotely close to what Halo 1 was. I feel like they are trying to sell you on “It’s like halo 1 again!” Yet everything points to a grinder game. If we want to play Halo 1 we can. The graphics and the boring gun variants didn’t bother me as much as this game has NO VISION. It’s like it is trying to grab all the stuff of games now and then calling it a halo game. Stop it. Be Halo again. Linear campaign. Fair fights. Same weapons. It can’t compete if it tries to be all games at the same time. That’s not Halo. Anyways. I’m extremely disappointed and hoping Halo devs fix this but have no faith. Feels like corporate interests and money interests is all that they want. They’ll never compete with a COD so why try? Be Halo. Please!!
Yeah I wish Halo would just stick to linear style games. I don’t think 343 can pull off am open world style Halo. Not to mention we got a some what glimpse of open world Halo with H3 ODST and it was lame. Don’t kid yourself, the “open world” or city really wasn’t good. I am hoping for the best with infinite. I am one of the few that some what liked what I saw in the demo. The game play looked fun. Sure the graphics didn’t wow me… But what I really didn’t like is the landscape. Looked like the land of Q’bert… Oh wait that for us old folk … Looked like a Halo ring built in Minecraft… The future of Halo doesn’t look good IMO. These personnel changes during development could be trouble. I am glad the game was delayed as this game HAS to shine on release or there is no telling what happens to this franchise.
as much as I dislike the claim of a 10 year model, its a nice round number to grasp and gives people the idea of long term support. Also, being open world (which its not even open world by the way) does not prevent the game from being organic. Also, realistically, that format is all Halo ever has been. Shoot enemies, change background and context, shoot the same/more enemies. The format we see is more similar to ODST, only with more objectives in the more free roam areas.
I dont think your grasping what they mean by “its halo 1 again.” They dont mean 1 to 1. They mean they are calling back to the moments of awe like when you first stepped onto the ring. Who knows if it will land, can only wait and see. Also, lets not use the “no vision” claim. Every game has vision, lets not be ignorant.
Again, we know its a linear campaign, nothing points to this weird idea of "unfair fights. Seems your just dont want them to try new things
I don’t think they’re trying to make it like H1, rather inspired by it. Also don’t think it’s going to be the kind of open world you’re describing. Let’s see what it actually is before name calling.
In open world graphics they will fail in comparison to other open world games this generation imo.We have beautiful looking open world games out there while Infinite has pop in grass in front of the player.
Gameplay elements could be great cause when you have multiple objectives around the map and have to backtrack new enemies can spawn. That is better than linear missions imo.
Does anyone really know why 343 does anything?
Halo 1 was originally a RTS read a strategy game that got turned into a strategic shooter atleast compared to other FPS at the time. Halo wars 2 is an RTS, an its story leads into HI which is probably shaping up to be a tactile strategic shooter as well. …Spiritual Roots…full circle…
The game isn’t going to be open-world like you seem to think. 343 said it’s going to be linear, with more open level design, which brings to my mind Silent Cartographer from CE, or Winter Contingency from Reach.
We’ll have to wait and see, though. 343 haven’t said much about actual campaign layout, so any information you find that wasn’t given by 343 themselves is likely someone else’s interpretation.
