Why is halo infinite not called halo 6!!!!! D:

Okay
My Visor is Cleary Damaged
because I seriously thought they would call halo infinite- halo 6 then add a “infinite” at the end
but noooope

you got just… infinite

I know, I know what you’re thinking
“dude, it’s just name?”
ITS NOT JUST A NAME JOHN!

listen, you got
halo
halo 2 ( oh that makes sense)
halo 3 (yep I see, cool cool)
halo 4 (wow that just looks so nice building upon my collection i now have)
halo 5 (oh this is just looking so nice up on my collection- can’t wait to complete it with halo 6)

enters new name for halo

HALO. . .
infinite?

As Luke sky walker would say “NOOOOOOOOOO that’s impossible”

okay for real just venting my frustration right now…
you’ll have all your games looking nice and in order until it stops with infinite
What happens if you we get a halo 7 huh!?
AND THEY call it halo 7
man my collection is gonna look all types of messed up…

does anyone else relate to this???

p.s really looking forward to playing this game :D!!

I don’t really care but I still find it confusing why they’d get rid of the number. Numbers make things so easy to understand. Maybe Microsoft is infecting 343i with their poor naming ideology.

It doesn’t really matter.

I think they want to get away from numbered titles, so if they get to halo 10 or 11 it won’t be called halo 10 or 11

Its the marketing theory that big numbers scare people, and to a certain point it makes sense that someone might be unsure if they should start with Halo 6 or get the other halo’s first for it to make sense.

Honestly I think numbers should be a sign of pride and accomplishment in the longevity of a series. I mean, no one expects to have to play final fantasy 1 to understand final fantasy 15 do they?

343 is focusing on this game being an entry point for newbies (cause they lost oldies) as well trying to brand it as a soft reboot, making it seem like the third part of a trilogy goes against both goals.

Well think about it. Halo 1 isn’t called Halo 1 is it? It’s called Halo combat evolved. It’s the beginning of a franchise, the start of something new. Halo reach for example, it’s just called Halo reach and not Halo 0. It’s because Halo reach is its own story. Halo infinite is a spiritual reboot to the Halo franchise. Yes it’s still a sequel, but it’s meant to be something new, something you won’t need to play previous games to fully understand.

I’m assuming it’s because Halo infinite will be the new flagship game and have a 10 year life plan. They purely took the number out probably in note of that.

I remember hearing a while back that they wanted to stray away from numbering the Halo titles. Can’t recall the exact reason why but they wanted to start with Halo 5 hence why they added “Guardians” into the title. It’s not that big of a deal though in my opinion, Halo is still Halo so I don’t mind.

spiritual reboot seems to be the key phrase

Bonnie Ross wanted to get rid of numbered titles as early as Halo 4. I don’t mind the new naming system as much as I mind when people include a colon between “Halo” and “Infinite” though. Haha.

For the same reason why Bioshock Infinite isn’t called Bioshock 3; it’s a soft reboot.

I don’t have a box for Halo 5, so if that is what your are concerned about, I guess my collection is incomplete and looks wrong.

It’s a spiritual reboot of sorts. It seems to possibly end the current story and start the new journey. It also is a 10 year game plan.

Um who cares :joy::joy:

they probably wont call it halo 7
and halo 6 just doesnt have the same ring to it

It is going to be the main Halo title for at least 10 years. We may not even have “Halo 7”. Halo infinite could be a platform for future titles, like MCC, but they are constantly releasing all the new titles on it.

It’s not an issue, Halo Infinite is still the 6th Instalment to Master Chief’s Saga

They didn’t want Halo to go into the route of being like Gears or Final Fantasy with the numbers at the end. So the plan now is to go down the route of giving the games a certain name.

I think they just want to stay away from big numbers so that the new Halo fans don’t get intimidated and think they will have missed a lot of the story and not play the game. They want Infinite (Halo 6) to be a “spiritual reboot” so they have to do this.

I think this is a possibility, maybe the title doesn’t mean “Infinite world”, but instead “Infinite story”. This would tie in with the DLC plan they have for the game.
