I understand why 343i is attempting to modernize Halo. Its resemblance to other shooters will make it appealing to potential newcomers, such as COD, Destiny, and Titanfall players. However, 343i seems to be forgetting that the traditional Halo players (or what’s left of them) are the foundation of the Halo itself. These “newcomers” will come and go, while the traditional Halo players will be the ones that are there for the long-haul. That being said, a foundation is worthless unless built upon. Bungie created Halo’s foundation and soon started building the franchise from the ground up. Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3 were magnificent structures, all built upon the same foundation. However, as Bungie abandoned Halo, the foundation of what once a great franchise began to weaken and eventually the entire structure collapsed. 343i was left with the ruins of what was once Halo in all its glory, now overshadowed by the towering structures of the modern FPS, such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc. 343i now had some serious competition and they did the best they could to restore Halo to its former glory. However, their foundation was flawed and thus the creation known as Halo 4 collapsed. 343i, now desperate, returned to the decaying foundation of Bungie’s previous creations. There they began working on the structure known as Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Unfortunately, 343i was unable to repurpose the long-lost remains of the original Halo games. They did their best to patch up the various holes which plagued the Master Chief Collection, but with little success. However, 343i hasn’t given up yet and this time they are ready and willing to take some advice from the community to ensure Halo’s survival. 343i has returned to the same foundation that made the previous Halo games so memorable. However, 343i recognizes that in order to surpass the other FPS franchises, they will need to take a bold step into the modern era. Halo 5 is going to be modern and it’s going to have Spartan Abilities, including Sprint, Ground Pound, and Thruster Pack, without a doubt. But as far as I’m concerned as long as the foundation stays unchanged Halo will be moving in the right direction. We shouldn’t be criticizing 343i, we should be helping them to bring Halo back to the top. Thank you.
Please realize that most of this is metaphorical and that your interpretation of the passage is not necessarily what I intended to say.

This exact frame has been used many times. It’s getting old.

Forgetting? sure. That’s why they decided to showcase the arena portion of MP and gave us back things like same starts, de scoping, removal of ORD. etc.

Halo 1 lacked decent online play, halo 2 had a less then great weapon sandbox horrible glitches and huge aim assist, halo 3 also had a bad sandbox due to dual wielding and de ranking. None of the games were even close to perfect and Bungie created reach. So can we please stop praising them like gods?

Halo MCC hasn’t failed and I really don’t get why you or others talk that way and why your talking like nothing else can be done. 343 is still patching the game and they actually HAVE fixed many issues.
Well, ideally, everyone gets what they want. Halo can’t stay the same forever, which is why Halo 5 is gong to shake things up a bit. Hopefully with more luck than Halo 4. Halo 4 was literally just taking all those features the cool kids like from other FPS games and tossing them into Halo. Halo 5, with no ordinance or custom loadouts, plus the return of a traditional Halo scope looks far more promising. The whole point of the MCC is to keep the people satisfied who just want the classic experience. And then there’s H5, which will hopefully please old fans and bring in new ones. It’s a win-win in theory, but its a shame that the MCC had one of the worst launches in recent history. MCC is supposed to be the comeback of Halo. 343 had an opportunity to bring the spotlight back onto Halo so that people would have interest in H5. Unfortunately it was too good to be true. It’s no secret that some of the people ready to come back to Halo have already been scared off again. Imagine if you were a Halo fan who hated H4 and wasn’t confident in 343’s abilities. Then you buy a game that can do no wrong, the MCC. Then you find out that half the game is unplayable. That would make you think worse of 343. They just went in the opposite direction, which means that to some extent, Halo is still trying to pull itself out of a rut.
But 343 does have another chance to pull back the people they scared off with a horrendous launch. By the time the H5 beta drops, the MCC will likely be 100% functional. People will likely get drawn back in for the beta, and if they like what they see, they’ll stick around to play some working MCC after. Let’s hope it all works out.
I agree, Halo does need to be modernized, they can only do so much with the H1-3 format even though they were by far better than halo reach and 4. I think the new spartan abilities is what they need but the one i really don’t like is sprint… It totally changes the dynamics of the game. My solution for sprint would be to only allow it until you get damaged. Once you have full shields you can sprint again. But whatever happens, Halo will continue to be my favorite game!

My first Halo was Halo 4. I got Reach and 3 and wish to goodness I had the Master Chief Collection. I love the Halo series more than any other series in the world. I am not going to come and go. I am firmly vested in this franchise. To me Halo can not be rated or graded. Halo is Halo. If Halo 5 had got rid of everything that Reach, 4 and 5 have introduced then I would still by it and enjoy the heck out of it. So me being here is testament that this comment is just plain hogwash.
If the traditional players are there for the long haul they wouldn’t be complaining about and swearing to never buy another Halo game because of the direction its going. Period.
