Okay serious question here guys, why is Halo 5: Guardians such a huge game? I don’t mean in terms of content, because let’s be honest its missing a lot of that, I mean in size on your Xbox. I just checked today and it takes up the most space on my Xbox! A whopping 91.5 GB!!! It’s bigger than MCC, GTA V, The Witcher 3, or MGSV on my console. And those games have a lot more content in them. It doesn’t anger me as I have a 2 TB external HDD and Halo 5 is one of my most played games, but I’m just wondering as to why it takes up so much space? Any ideas? Also if any 343 employee sees this and can explain the reasoning it would be greatly appreciated.
They should just compress everything into a .zip file.

Most everyone is fairly certain that 343 is too lazy to compress their files, so I’m pretty sure it’s partially true.

Well, no. Depending on formatting and compression techniques stuff, file compression can result in quality loss.
Its a bit weird that every other game seems to be able to do it though without problems.
Didn’t Titanfall have a thing where they didn’t compress their audio or something? Could be similar here.
Not compressing files, I should point out, is pure speculation. There’s nothing solid to say that’s the case. Only 343 can shed light on why the game is the size it is

It could be forge, but then again MCC has has 3 different forge modes. Granted, not as complex but its still a lot of different assets there. Yet The MCC at 62.7 GB is not nearly as big as Halo 5. Probably compression issues. But as stckrboy said…

Only 343 can tell us the real reason.
Un-compressed files.
So you will buy an Xbox with a larger hard drive 
MCC isn’t a fair comparison as lots of the stuff in that is lower quality; less polygons, lower texture quality that sort of thing. If memory serves the halo Reach AR had more polygons then a Halo 3 warthog. so extrapolate that. Could also be higher quality sound files.
