I’ve been playing Halo 5 for a while now, and I’m encountering the same people in the social playlists. Is it because of Halo Infinite being right around the corner?
The population around your skill level is probably limited at the time of your searches thus leading to you matching several of the same players.
Halo 5 is slighty dead because 343 do everything for it ! They don’t show any respect for Halo5’s players !

A lot of people are playing legacy titles, MCC or other games while waiting for infinite. Tons of people have wrapped up their final tasks such as getting to 152 and such.
Halo 5 was honestly a complete trainwreck, and with news of Infinite, I think many players have decided they can go a few more weeks without halo 5 until Halo Infinite releases.

The only real trainwreck related to Halo 5 was the campaign story relative to the marketing hype; otherwise, it’s ranged from being an average to surprisingly great title.
However, I will include 343i’s decision to permanently end access to all their rotational playlists as a trainwreck decision, but that’s on 343i rather than Halo 5.

I’m at 152 and have zero desire to play unless a friend messages me wanting to do social like Castle Wars CTF.
And since there’s not going to be co-op multiplayer in Infinite for a supposed very long time, and that stupid grappling hook will be used to troll as well as grief making multiplayer absolutely worthless, we’re both going to have zero desire to play other than single player so will either try H5 social or MCC.
YMMV, but the new custodians of Halo has been very disappointing to the OGs that want to do Halo without the fluff and do campaigns together. Almost all of the fun is doing achievements together and BS’ing on the mikes during the missions but nooo, can’t be having that.

It’s kinda dying. I encountered a lot of sweats in arena last time I played. The population will dwindle even further after infinite’s launch, especially since the multiplayer is free.
The only people I feel are on are the ones grinding for max rank or the ones who still enjoy playing the game over others.
There aren’t a lot of reasons to play it anymore, most people are either grinding to 152 or they’ve given up making play time feel worthless. And with the announcement of infinite any new blood coming in has dropped significantly. The people I’ve heard from that are trying to get into halo are playing the MCC to catch up on story events.
