See title. Why do I have to install all the gumf of re skins just play the game? Re skinned weapons and armour is not free dlc it is just hd space for crap you neither want or need! For example, anvils forge coming out next week has all the memories of reach skins I already have, but I have to install the new variants of skins I do not use just to play the game. Soon I will need an entire xbox one just to have halo 5, since it is nearly 100 gig!!! and going to get bigger as reqs equal ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££
I’m pretty sure external hard drives aren’t terribly expensive nowadays, so I don’t see why you couldn’t just buy one of those to solve your space issue.

I have a 2tb hard drive, I do not need the space at all, but all I am referring to is this game is getting stupidly large for flipping re skins of stuff we already have and do not need, but kids love re skins don’t they.
I just want 343 to group things together… The reqs are mostly useless garbage. And have the ability to set load outs. Because I use the same weapons for each level of load out. Instead, we have to scroll through ever dang req to get the weapons we play with most.
I only play Halo, sooooo my H5 console only has Halo 5. No space problems for me!

Someone who understands this stuff better than me can probably explain it better, but each reskin is its own asset. Each asset takes up space. Even if 75% of the content is just reused textures, they still occupy space, causing Halo 5 to take up massive amounts of space. That’s how I understand at least.
$10 32gig flash drive get one.

I guess kids also like having tons of crap saved on their hard drives into perpetuity. Or they like to just complain about memory when they have plenty of other viable storage solutions.
Those rascals…

For one that is of a decent size you’re looking at $100.
How about they just compress their files properly?

I heard 343 doesn’t compress their files… lazy peeps always messing around over there at the studio
Because for some reason at the end of last gen/beginning of this gen some devs just stopped bothering with sensible file compression. TItanfall was 50GB due almost entirely to its uncompressed audio, which is good for quality, but frankly unnecessary. Especially given how most people’s internet speeds and download limits across the US and beyond are not up to that standard. Not to mention the fact that default hard drives on most consoles fill up absurdly quickly with only a relative few games at that size.
Developers who do this are frankly either incompetent or ignorant(willfully or not) of the issues there customers and would-be customers face.
