why is halo 5 customization so limited

the halo 5 guardians armour customization is absolutely crap its the same as the beta its such a massive let down who thought it was a good idea honestly

Wait, where did you get the idea that the customization in the beta represents what we’ll see in the full game? Genuinely curious.

apparently josh holmes said that they want to have the armour in sets on twitter I just hope it isn’t true cause it would get massive backlash I got told by another youtube on a video

It was a beta, testing gameplay is more important than customization. It probably was not even finished.

You could mix-match any armor you wanted in the beta, sooo… yeah. There.

Not the brightest of the bunch.

Ah, alright. Before believing you or that video I’d much rather see the tweet for myself, though.

If what we got in 4 is any indication, you should no real worries for the amount of pieces you’ll get to play around with.
(and bear in mind that was 360 hardware)

You could mix and match a helmet with a set of armor, but I think the OP is referring to the customization of shoulder armor, leg armor and wrist armor individually.

Which, as far as I know nothing is confirmed as of yet, maybe I’m wrong.

its probably an old tweet cause the comment was a bit vague so I don’t know but know I look like a massive dumb -Yoink- on the internet

yes that’s what I was worried about

There is a tweet from January where Holmes said they are doing sets only but about a week ago he posted here that the beta was limited and that there will be more options. All that means is yes the armor customization is still crap but at least there will be several sets to choose. The pre order armor is pretty much confirmation that 343i was lazy and only giving us pre made armor sets.

You got to play a beta for 3 weeks, and you’re basing your entire thought process on them not allowing you to have access to all of their armour? Okay…

Someone posted my thoughts before I even got to post, -Yoink!-.

In the GameStop Pre-Order description, the Hunter armor says there is only going to be a Helmet and Armor set. No wrists, chest, leggings, etc.

I guess many are guessing Halo 5’s armor customization is how it was in the beta.

Dude, are you serious? It’s just a BETA. That means that this is NOT the final version of the game. I’m pretty sure (and correct me if I’m wrong) that Josh Holmes said that the customization in the beta will NOT be the final version of the game. He also said that the armory will be bigger and better than ever before!

Yeah, he’s serious. This is how it’s worded on GameStop’s Halo 5: Guardians page:

> Reserve Halo 5: Guardians and receive the GameStop Pre-order Exclusive Spartan Locke armor set Helmet and Armor DLC for Multiplayer!
>
> Fans who reserve Halo 5: Guardians at GameStop in the U.S. will get access at launch* to the pre-order exclusive Spartan Locke, HUNTER-class armor set for use in multiplayer**, including:
>
> HUNTER-Class Armor: Sophisticated and lethal, HUNTER-class armor incorporates Watershed Division’s latest warfighting technology.
> HUNTER-Class Helmet: Though still considered a prototype implementation, the HUNTER’s sensor suite enhances situational and threat awareness.

Why would the helmet be mentioned separately from the armor set if the armor set wasn’t one whole slot unto itself?

After the upward trend Halo 3 and onward, this is highly unusual and very disappointing that they’d cut back armor customization this much for the first entry on a new set of hardware. Perhaps we’ll get some answers at E3, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I’m foolishly hoping that maybe some of the armor is in sets and there’s some Mix-n-Match as well, but… that would hardly make sense.

Perhaps it would just be too cumbersome to type out all of the individual armor pieces, I’d probably say they put “Armor” instead to keep it short.

I don’t think this is in any way 100% confirmation, although it does lead one to suspicion…

I only found a tweet from November about this. Idk whats going on with the wording with the gamestop pre order bonus.

But I wonder why they would even consider such a thing? Are they just not feeling it or something? Im going to very disappointed if we cant mix and match are armor. hopefully we can get some answers in a few months.

But imo I think that we will get a mix and match like halo 4. It just does not make any sense of why anyone at 343i would even bring up the idea of armor sets. its not like a lot of people didn’t like mcc’s armor sets or anything.

I was actually thinking the same thing.

I dearly hope you’re correct, Inceptum Oracle and x blade zero. The thing that worries me, like I said, is that they bothered mentioning the helmet armor separately. If they just said ‘Armor Set’ then that’d have supported the theory that the Beta configuration was simply an incomplete pseudo-rigging of the customization system just for the Beta.

I really, really hope I’m wrong about it, trust me. Nothing would make me happier than to be horribly wrong.

I don’t see why he would say that the Beta armor customization is only a sliver of what they have for the full game if the beta’s customization was effectively final.
