Why is Halo 4 more popular than Reach already?

Some people feel that Reach didn’t live up to the hype that it was given. Whilst I enjoy Halo Reach I can see that there were some parts multiplayer-wise that it fell down on.

However what is unclear to me is how the Halo 4, without any gameplay or much knowledge on content, can already be more popular than Halo reach.
Look at these 2 videoes from Machinima on Youtube.
Halo 4 debut trailer
Halo Reach debut trailer

Halo 4’s trailer already has over 2 million views more than Halo Reach’s trailer. Does anyone have a reason as to why this is?

I’ll include a poll as to what game you felt most excited about when it was announced.

it’s because this continues the story of the chief, the thing the fans have been waiting for

Because you will be playing as a Spartan II instead of these Spartan III’s :stuck_out_tongue:

I truly believe it is because Reach has FAILED dramatically in sales, game play hrs, and sooo many ways. Sage Merrile idea of the bloom should have NEVER EVER been introduce in a bungie game! EPIC FAIL!

So glad to hear Frank say “no bloom will ever be introduced in a Halo game ever again!”

Do you have a source for that quote?

Halo 4 is a direct sequel to Halo 3 and it hasn’t been released yet. Halo: Reach is a spin-off game that isn’t tied directly to John 117’s story. That is the main reason why people are beginning to over-hype it even now.

In my personal opinion Halo 4 is more exciting to me than Reach. (from the trailers and commercials point of view) When I saw Reaches commercial showing “The most anticipated game of 2010”. I was all like “This is going to be awesome!”. But then Black Ops came out and sold more copies than Reach did, on the first day! I am sorry but when I saw that happen I lol’ed and said to my self “Well Bungie… this is why you knock on wood”. I am sorry but that was just hillarious to me. That right their was proof enough for me to see that it really didn’t live up to its hype. Obviously it WASN’T the most anticipated game (or at least in the sells department it wasn’t). That is my opinion, I am so pumped for Halo 4 and hope it isn’t another Reach! (At least make it half Reach, half 3(basically the ranked and social playlist we had on Halo 3))

It was during Halo fest 2011. Will have to look it up. just not now, playing ZB atm… :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably because it’s a numbered game in the series. People’s excitement for Halo 3 was off the charts, whereas most people’s excitement for Halo Reach was optimistic, but not the same excitement level that Halo 3 had. That, and because Halo 4 is returning one of the most iconic video game icons.

there isn’t a need to explain why halo 4 is more popular than halol reech. its common knowledge.

In terms of sales Reach didn’t fail.

> So glad to hear Frank say “no bloom will ever be introduced in a Halo game ever again!”

He never said those words.

Halo 3 opening week:3.8 million, current lifetime:11.4 million
Halo Reach opening week: 4 million, current lifetime: 9 million
These are the rounded values from VGC, and based off that data Reach was not a failure in “sales”. It may not reach the same life time total but it did incredibly well and had a stronger first week. Reach was not a complete failure in sales, those other areas are slightly more up to discussion.
OT: Halo 4 is getting more hype because it is a direct sequel not a spinoff, which is ultimately what Reach was.

Halo 3 has more than 11.4 million. Those numbers are incorrect, if I’m not mistaken it’s actually 14.5 million, making it the best selling Xbox 360 game of all time.

So since Halo 4’s teaser got more views than Halo: Reach’s, it’s more “popular” (title)?

No, it isn’t “more popular”, it’s just more hyped.

Because people put more faith in in producing a better Halo game after seeing the fail of Reach.

halo reach is over and halo 4 is coming!

> the fail of Reach.

Ah, I see what you did there. ;D
