Why is halo 4 bad?

I’m really sick of seeing all of these threads with people saying they hate the game and it sucks without providing any reasons. So I want to know why do you guys not like it? and for the love of God don’t say ranking system, I can’t stand any more complaining about that, I want reasons that actually have to do with the gameplay. Here’s my reasons:

1.dmr causes long range fights and makes the game slow paced(also not as fun to use as br but you have to use it because its better), i think the dmr should be removed in halo 5 and the br range should be buffed

2.Bad map design on all maps except haven causes haven to be the only map ever played on.

  1. The yoinking boltshot is the most annoying overpowered noob gun in halo history and you can spawn with it.

> I’m really sick of seeing all of these threads with people saying they hate the game and it sucks without providing any reasons.

What thread are you reading where no evidence is supplied?

To steal song song from Ren & Stimpy…

"Halo 4, Halo 4
It’s big, It’s heavy it’s wood.

Halo 4, Halo 4
It’s better than bad, it’s good."

I think Halo 4 is good.

Those are my reasons.

I’ll say it over and over again, 343 catered this game to casuals. Industry is all about money anymore, and until they see the failures this population is causing in gaming it will never end.

Dozens, pretty much every one where the title is something like “343 has failed”

> I’ll say it over and over again, 343 catered this game to casuals. Industry is all about money anymore, and until they see the failures this population is causing in gaming it will never end.

You are what I’m complaining about! How did it cater to casuals and why does it affect the quality of the game? I want reasons!

P.S. The industry was always all about money just like pretty much every other industry.

If you dont want long range battles, dont play BTB. Its been this way since H1. DMR is fine.

Wow, big generalization on map design. Hint, that is an opinion. Its subjective, not objective. I like most of the maps, but would like less dark green and more color like on Ragnarok.

Hahaha! Boltshot complaint? Gotta be kidding me. You must be one of those people that pursue around every single corner trying to double-beatdown. If you think its a “noob gun” you’ve never used it- simple as. Timing and aiming it is NOT easy. Play better, its balanced.

The only complaint I have is with the relatively repetitive spartan ops (I loved shootout in valhalla, though. Hope they put that one back on matchmaking VERY soon!) and the HORRENDOUS custom games. Flood is absolute garbage compared to infected.

Random ordidance, insta spawns, aim assist that is a joke. All of this makes map control useless! I should be able to control a set point on the map without having a team get a random rocket and blow my setup. I should also not be punished for a triple kill. Multi Kills are -Yoinking!- pointless in this game because it gives the other team a chance to spawn in, kill you, and gain map control. This game needed to be competitive from the start and its not. Casuals need to step into the game like I did and compete to get better. Not have a game dumbed down for them, where no skill will develop.

Thank you! That’s what I was asking for.

If the other maps were good then haven wouldn’t be the only map that ever wins now would it? Also I’m not playing btb, the dmr causes long range battles in slayer! And I’m guessing you’re one of those losers who sits around a corner crouched waiting for someone to walk by so you can use your mini shotgun you get to spawn with to kill them. Or maybe you’re too busy ruining this games short range battles with your mini shotgun. However I do agree with you on flood and spartan ops.

Halo ce, 2 and even 3 were created to both satisfy the casual and competitive crowd. There was a good balance between the two. Reach and 4 are undoubtedly more noob friendly, and sure, gimmicks do attract a crowd, the sale numbers don’t lie. A crowd that will buy the game, play it for three hours, and return it to Gamestop to pickup another game.

The things I don’t like about Halo 4.

  1. The on map weapons. Somewhere down the line, I hope that 343 releases a gametype that is like the old arcade shooter arena-style that Halo has had for years. The ability to pick up weapons, grenades and so on off the map gave the game a special charm that no other recent shooter has. I forgot how much I loved that until I bought Halo 4.

1b) Adding on to that, I’m not too big of a fan of personal ordnance. It was cool for the first week, but I’m tired of it now. I also don’t understand why the dynamic weapon spawns exist. It doesn’t add anything to the gameplay.

  1. The armor abilities/sprint. When the game was in production I gave aa’s and sprint so much support. I wanted to believe that 343 would make them work, and while they do (… to an extent), they’re just annoying to be surrounded by. I’m happy that there are gametypes that don’t use armor abilities, but I’m waiting for that special one that doesn’t have sprint either.

  2. Join in progress and instant spawning. I don’t even need to go too in depth with these two. I’m tired of joining half done matches and people instantly spawning behind me.

  3. The maps. I don’t understand how map design just gets worse as time goes on. It’s like Bungie/343 hit their plateau in Halo 2 and it just went down from there. I hope (and I really do) that the map packs give solid 4v4 maps that can be compared to what ce, 2 and even some of 3 had.

I hate to say it, but in it’s current state, I like TU Halo Reach better than 4.

I think a very small percentage of the population think Halo 4 is flat out bad. There is however, a larger percentage that are frustrated with some of the games shortcomings and would like to see improvements.

These forums do tend to reflect the negative side of things though, because the people who love the game are playing it instead of venting on here.

Some of the complaints are deserving, some are not. And some are just flat out ridiculous. but all in all, don’t buy int the doomsday mentality that this forum tends to reflect- Halo is not going anywhere.

I dont really use the boltshot personally. I just know that when someone pursues you in this game, its a good idea to go around a corner and charge up your boltshot. Killed me plenty of times, but you have to think about your play instead of rushing into battles. Nade em or let them be. No point in rushing after someone that clearly is playing mind games with you.

I like adrift and solace a ton. I kind of like complex. I dislike haven because of the huge piece of metal in the middle that ruins the arena play of the map. It could be guardian 2.0 if it wasnt for that factor that completely ruins any chance of it being on the competitive radar (at least for me). Its a fun map to play on for Yoinks and giggles, though, so a ton of people choose it. I dont know why they do, personally, but its popular vote. I prefer the veto system, but w/e.

I suppose I can agree with this. Its impossible to remove sprint, however, so the gametype we desire is out of the question. Hopefully we’ll get some more remakes of classic maps. I would love guardian, and we already have lockout. I would love a gametype with 0 bloom and pick-up grenades. The only ordinance is on infinity, though, right?
