Why is Halo 3 so much more laggy?

Why is Halo 3 so laggy for me? Is it because I live in Asia? I can tick good connection, but then I never even get a match! I have a good internet connection, whenever I play Reach it doesn’t lag… so why whenever I play Halo 3, I am either roaming a playerless world with limited weapons with ammo glitches, or I am dead, with a respawn screen, which doesn’t let me respawn? I installed it into the hard drive, but it still lags! Pls help!!! I wanna play Halo 3 more than Reach, since to me it feels like the better game, but all the time, I get supreme lag, even though I can go on Reach, have a laggier host and have no lag at all!!

That’s because there’s few people geographically close to you playing Halo 3 so the game can’t find enough peers for a match.

Reach is hitscan and far less host dependant than Halo 3, in Halo 3 if your shot appears to hit an opponent on your screen but not from the hosts POV chance are the hit won’t count and the player will “eat” them.

You can have the best connection in the world and if you land on a crap host still lag terribly in Halo 3, Halo Reach by contrast gives laggers and other people with poor connection the advantage as they will lag around, eating shots while having their shots register just fine.

I think you need to check your network and make sure your NAT is open and is so try connecting directly to your modem and put it into bridge mode so you can be sure it isn’t that which is causing issues.

My NAT is open, and while I know how only host registers everything, what I don’t understand is how people always “Walk into walls” or I can be in a playerless world. Then, I die with no-one in range to shoot me (NO ONE ON THE MAP???) and it takes me 30 seconds to spawn…

Host is having genuine network difficulties (NAT failure, hardware failure) or could be deliberately cheating.

I’m from Australia and while a Swedish person may appear to be cheating when I play with them it’s that 10,000km introduces a lot of latency and the match will be crap regardless of how good our connections are to one another.

Have to tried connecting directly to your modem or modem/router running in bridge mode with only the 360 connected and logged in via network details, that way you have no NAT and can be sure once and for all if your modem or modem/router’s NAT is flakey or causing issues.
