What is it about halo 3 so many veterans and others consider amazing? I’ve tried coming back and playing it on MCC to see if there was something that I missed. But I don’t even want to play another match.
Because Halo 3 had so many memories like the Campaign and Forge and of course RvB
Because it was just very, very high quality, delivering on everything it was hyped up to and more. Multiplayer was simple but glorious, campaign was arguably the best to date.
OST was bloody beautiful too.
Well your not using the real halo 3. Your using the 1080p 60fps version.

Don’t think there no difference.

There’s definitely a difference, especially in multiplayer.

It’s kinda hard to explain… but if you had played the original halo 3 very extensively and then played the mcc version. The mcc version will just feel off, like it’s not actually halo 3.

you’re only saying that because of the 1080p and 60fps

That was a lame argument really.
Don’t mistake popularity for greatness. It was the right game in the right place at the right time. It had less competition than Halo does now, a more successful hardware platform, and it didn’t mess too much with “the formula.” It also had a less exacting player base who accepted “the formula” blindly because BUNGIE, because HALO, because their experience of anything different was necessarily more limited than it is now, after almost ten years of fps evolution. Yes, it was a good game. No, it was not the greatest game ever, and there are a lot of people like me who will tell you that it wasn’t even the greatest Halo ever. Like all Halos, it was completely brilliant and deeply flawed at the same time. It’s popularity was a combination of not being a disaster on the one hand, and some happy circumstance on the other. Don’t ascribe the quality of perfection to that game, and don’t ascribe the quality of shrewd judgment to the 13 million people who bought a copy.
It was the complete package. Awesome custom games, genius forge designs, competitive and casual multiplayer, amazing campaign. Of course it wasn’t perfect but it worked really well, and had a great population until the next main halo game, Reach, was launched.
Honestly think it was forge\custom. It’s a great game, although I found its campaign pretty weak when compared to 1 and 2. The multiplayer suite was massive though and gives it an extraordinary advantage.
it was a simple memorable campaign. For me, it was my very first Halo. I loved it, so many legendary campaign attempts with friends, so many teamkills, Marine betrayal survival attempts, so many fun forge maps, even the glitches, skull hunting. Its all about memory. But it’s not just Co-op, It’s the campaign as well. I didn’t need to know much to understand what was going on, I played the game all the way through because it was actually fun (and then I went back to the first and 2nd halo when I was older to actually listen to the story, little to say cuz i understood completely.) Multiplayer… ok I sucked at the Halo 3 multiplayer but i was young when I started, and when I played with friends it was even better. Infection weekend was the best thing I ever got to experience in Halo 3.
Now the MCC variation of Halo 3 was very watered down. If you ask me it was upsetting. I didn’t play MCC again unless it was to do the Helioskrill challenge, to play campaign for fun, or to forge awesome maps (ok awesome in terms of what I know I have the time and patience to build). You joined in too late my friend. I am sorry you did not have the chance to experience an era of bad-yoink-ery
Because every aspect of it was of the highest quality.

Less competition then it does now,are u serious?do u know how many people used to play halo this game doesn’t even crack 50k at one time, halo 3 had what, almost a million people on at 1 time so based on those numbers I would say there were definitely more competitive people then now

Key: MCC there is your problem right there. MCC is broken and had a low population. It’s better to actually play the original game on Xbox 360. But I highly doubt you will get the same experience older players got. Especialy since the servers aren’t supported anymore and there is a low population count.

Actually at one point halo 3 had a higher population than halo 4 did.
