Why can’t people just play griftball? Is it fun to spawn kill or hold the ball forever?

I generally avoid that mode for the two reasons you posted.

Pretty much yes, it is fun to do both those things and boost if you have a full team.
As stated above, definitely why I avoid it too if I’m playing ancient games.

if you trap people in their spawn, you can boost your KD.
I played grifball for a while since I was able to get 10k CR each game for some reason.
The exact reasons I stayed away from the game mode since after halo 3. I have no idea why they dont just take team killing off but oh well.

Some people simply put would rather grief the game and exploit the poor spawn setup in this objective based gametype, and instead of playing the objective gametype the way it was meant to be played would rather either:
- Have ‘Peace Games’ to exploit the Performance Bonus System to boost cR.;or
- Spawncampkill to ‘Statpad(Increase their K/D ratio)’ , boost cR, and boost commedation.;or
- Outright troll the gameAll three instances in some form violate LIVE Code of Conduct. Any form of boosting, whether it be ‘statpadding’, cR boosting, and/or commedation boosting is cheating as you are playing the game in a fashion where you are exploiting some aspect of the game to raise your stats at a vigorous rate, which wouldn’t be possible with normally playing the game as it should be played.
Also, degrading the gameplay experience for others by either intentionally trolling or exploiting as such is against Code of Conduct as it is considered Griefing. In any instance that you come across players doing so, make sure you submit a player review on those players, Avoiding them, Unsporting Conduct being the reason. If they are on the Xbox One, the player review will count against them, and will lower their reputation. Also, submit a report on those players, Cheating being the reason. If they are reported by enough people who played the games with them for continuing to do so, they can earn themselves a ban with their actions.

Oh boy. Grif, not Grift. On a serious note, Grifball is pretty much just a glorified credit farm. Might as well rename it to “Credit Farm Simulator 2017”
The friendly matches remembers me of TF2 servers with 16 friendlies, and -Yoinking!- god, they were annoying when they get killed. They just spawncamp you because they are not playing the game. Its the same -Yoink- on grifball. You kill someone, the the entire server spawncamp you
Well the majority of us want to have fun, rank up, buy armor and have some competition and I find grifball to be just that. I have been a hardcore grifballer since 9-24-10. Yes I played some Team Slayer or BTB or living dead, swat, team snipers but they were never fun to me personally so I always went to grifball because it delivered the excitement and fun that I would expect from a game. Plus I rank up and reach my Cr limited with hours. I don’t see all the hate though. Every gametype has their flaws and with grifball, Bungie couldn’t fix the problem they have without just shutting down the server. So in those respects, even spawn killing does violate the Live Code but still cannot be adherently removed because they would have to remove the game type as a whole. Cheating is a thing that always happens. You can’t stop it. But it’s all boiled down to what and how you play.

They do that for a reason… when I play griffball I go in with a team full of my friends who have nice and we spawn kill, hold the ba because it gives you way more credits like WAY more… hope this helps

Well a grifball 0-0 tie game gives out the highest cr reward possible. People looking to reach max rank farm credits in the game mode. I have participated in this a few times after reaching reclaimer because I want that damn haunted helmet already. I have been playing the game since release and I still haven’t finished it. What keeps me from doing it more is the fact that there are so many spawn campers, betrayers, and outright cheaters in the playlist. My best advice for playing griffball is to try MCC or halo 3 or halo 5… I don’t remember if it is in halo 4.

Actually, all they have to do is add an invulnerability timer once you spawn, which wouldn’t be very hard to do.
